Title: STB BlackMagic Voodoo2 SLI Issues
Post by rottentreats on 12.04.08 at 02:37:02
Ok, I bought one of these cards a long time ago, its pcb date is 2799.  And just now I received another one, pcb date 0599.  I cannot seem to get them to work in SLI.  When I launch a game like UT all i get is some reds and greens.. very faint lines... mostly black.  Best luck I had with these is in win98se.  I installed the whql voodoo2 drivers (the latest) and i even got the message "SLI DETECTED".  But no go in game...

Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong.. Or the odds that the cards are so different that they wont work together..  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

In addition to checking each of them as standalone cards, also try a different SLI cable.  I built a custom SLI cable out of a black floppy cable and I couldn't get it to work right to save myself.  For some reason, the black ribbon just wouldn't work right for the SLI setup.  I had similar issues you've been experiencing...some even worse.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.  Yeah, they both work individually.   I did not however try a different SLI cable.  I tried another SLI setup w/ this SLI cable about a month back, so it shouldnt be that, but I will try with another one.  I also will try different loop back cables.. I will do that now and have an update in about 15-20 minutes :)   *crosses fingers* ;)

Long story short. I tried a different SLI bridge/cable thingy, and now its working perfectly.   ;D ;D ;D

I am going to try the other one again just to make sure that was the problem.  Thanks sigtau and ps47!!! :)

I had a similar problem and I discovered that if the cards are switched, it works. By switching, I mean exchange the position in PCI slots.

Thanks for that tidbit RaverX.  I will "number" the V2's accordingly so I dont run into such a problem in the future :)

Anyone ever play the game Powerslide? These V2's rock the sh*t out of of the game and it is very fun.  Especially when using the Hammerhead controller with the rumble turned on.

HELS!

;D ;D ;D :D

I have a friend who liked Powerslide very much, it's ok, but I love Carmageddon (1). Carma with glide is simply amazing. And lets not forget Unreal and UT. Awesome games. And Quake1 is my favorite. 97-99 period was the best in gaming and hardware, 3dfx was the king then  ;)

The original U.T. is STILL better than the newer ones! 8-)
