Title: Is it Normal for a V5...

Voodoo 5 6000 (AGP of course) to appear as a PCI in the "Display Properties"?

I finally got a pretty desent setup going 2400MHz with 512 MB ram and did a fresh install of Win98 SE. I just finished loading my Motherboard drivers then Video and was about to load SB Live drivers and was checking to see if 8 X AA was available (it is) and saw that the card shows as a PCI card???

Is the 6000 BIOS incorrect???

It is normal because of the HiNT bridge ;). One time I asked Amigamerling to change it in Windows 98 too, he never did it however. If you ever going to install in on Amigamerlin3.0 or higher (WinXP/2000) then you will see it displays as AGP. Nothing wrong with your card its just the HiNT PCI bridge that makes it detect as a PCI card.

Ahh I see. It kind of freaked me out there for a second. I haven't done anything with the card since I got it. I tested it briefly in a PIII 500 machine but didn't want to do much as it was all too obvious that it was limited by the CPU.

Now I am getting prepared for some serious gaming.

Prepare for Descent...   Descent 3 that is ;D

It sure is nice to actually have "Playable" 4 X AA enabled. On the 5500 it was quite the teaser. You could see how nice it looked, but it just wasn't playable. It was upsetting to hear late in 99 that the 6000 would not be released to the consumer market, that Quantum3D had purchased the rights to the tech. Then a few months later, December I believe, they announced 3Dfx was closing. :'(

yeah true, how about 800 x 600 x 32 with FSAA x8, that should look even nicer ;)

The text on the "Heads up Display" looks correct @ 1024 X 768 for Descent 3. Anything less and the text is real small.

I may give it a try just to see how it looks (IQ).

1024 is the sweet spot for this game, AA X 4 is stunning 8)

I did it with my 5500 AGP with 4x FSAA that game recieved a new life with 3dfx's FSAA  8)
