Title: ProVideo??
Post by goriath on 13.06.05 at 21:44:16
Hi at all!

I have purchased a new Voodoo2 card. Seller sell it as Creative Blaster3D 2....but in the auction picture i saw that voodoo2 was very different from other creative that i have seen. For this reason i bought it ;D, because it looks like a ProVideo card.....

Yes, it's a ProVideo PV380.

If the card has four RAM-chips at the back it has 8 MB, otherwise (either 12 chips or no chip) it has 12 MB (in the first case the card has 24 chips of 512 KB, in the second case 12 chips of 1 MB).

If i has any ram on the back it is a 12MB board, if none 8MB.

Some later boards have 12MB with no chips on the back, they have 12 1 meg chips.

I used to have such a card.  I bought it when it was labelled by an eBay seller as a "Creative Voodoo2" also! :D  He was selling it as part of a Creative V2 SLI set, but this was different.

I recognise the card by the PCB number smack in the middle, it's blue/green PCB, and the two black CRT heads with the circular sticker on the top output head.

Exactly the same  ;), although i never did identify what card it was, not that I can remember anyway.

If the back of the board is completely filled with RAM it is 12MB.
Some (all?) 8MB versions (at least, my Guillemot MaxiGamer3D² cards) have 4 chips on the backside.

About the newer 12MB cards you're right. They don't have chips on the backside  :)

Well guys
Thanks for the support, It is definitively 12MB. Card have 12 chips on the rear side specularly placed like the other 12 chips on the card's front.

You can say all 8 MB-versions because if there would be no RAM on the backside you would have to solder 12 chips with 3/4 MB (768 KB) on the card and I don't think such chips were ever built. ;)
