Post by trevormacro on 16.03.12 at 12:49:52
Hello,

I have another project.

I sent one of my Voodoo5 6000 Rev.3700A to http://liquid-extasy.de/

I ask him to build two Waterblocks for this card :

4 Heatsinks removed :

Draw is in progress now...

If you have any ideas, I can suggest to Marc :-)

Best Regards,

Trevormacro

Hi Michel,

why another waterblock?

If you really want to do this I would try to get a different waterflow to the first approach and also try to get some pipes in there, like this:

I want to compare 2 V5k6 cards with waterblocks from 2 professionals mans.
Good idea for new Waterflow.
I send your idea to Marc :-)
What about the logo on front and back? anyone have an idea?
For example : "Designed for the legendary 3dfx Voodoo5 6000"

Great Work Michael !

I love to see that the Project is runnig  ;D

Take a look here:
http://www.swiftech.com/epsilonhd-6990fullcovervgawaterblock.aspx

The waterblock must be as light as possible, and like a sandwich. The ideea is to cover the entire card to cool and stabilize it. The cooler should be fixed also to the braket !

Now that's what I call a waterblock :) This will be far better than the first one. Great work liquid-extasy.de is doing here!

Far better than the first one :)

But wouldn't it be better to polish the copper, at least when it comes to the VSA100? I know, the thermal pads reduce the negative effect of the rough surface, but that way you could use better thermal grease.

Polish the copperbaseplate have minimal advantages. ~1°C.

This is by far the best cooling mod you've done thus far.  These water blocks look awesome.  But for the love of god, would you please build this card into a functioning stand alone system?  The ghetto style test stand that you always show us in pictures and videos is very tacky and It would be nice to see this beautiful card installed in a tasteful computer case with a proper Athlon or Pentium 4 6K friendly AGP motherboard.

I'm not trying to troll you, it's just that I don't have the privilege of owning a V5 6K and I find it frustrating to watch a bunch of these cards get modded, then only tinkered with on a test stand.  If I owned one, it would actually use it to play Glide games and not relegate it Quake 3 benchmarks forever.

Hello sigtau,

I had already put one of my Voodoo5 6000 rev.3700A in an old system...
You can look my first video for my first V5k6 card on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJQzkxEbGRU
It was a TYAN S2469UGN S2469 Thunder K7X Pro Dual MB with 2 Athlon MP 2800+.
One very good and ghetto style system for a rare graphic card.
I can play all glide games with my new system and all my adaptors too...

Again a great mod !!

But I too would like to see them either running in a nicely configured and lighted system or a in a special display stand/case with it's own waterflow  :D

Keep up the good work and am looking forward to the next youtube vids !
