Title: Rush the Rock-Alcatraz Edition Post by rottentreats on 07.09.09 at 20:59:20
[update]
http://rottentreats.com/RUSHTHEROCK.rar http://rottentreats.com/SFRushCracks.rar [/update] :) So for those who do not know, this game requires a Quantum3D Raven to play. (so it says when you try loading it with a non Raven card) My quesiton then is there a way to trick my computer into thinking I have a Q3D Raven installed when really it might be a Voodoo 2/3/4/5 card or something like that? (modifying the driver file(s) possibly?) If anyone would like to help me take on this project please let me know and we can work some magic. :) Stealth [W] Quantum3D Raven Thread ;) |

Does anyone know if the Raven has a standard banshee board design? :-?
If so then all @Rotten needs is a Raven BIOS image - flash his Voodoo Banshee... ;) Viola - instant Raven. 8-) |

I'll have to look, I'm fairly sure I got it working somehow but can't recall the details.

Chances are it would still work fine, if not you could always flash it back. Aside from the glasses connection just a standard SDRAM Banshee |

Ok, thanks for all the input guys. Now.. does anyone have a Raven BIOS? Or maybe even a Raven card for sale? Or a solution to my little situation?
Or possibly could someone provid the VendorID and DeviceID for a Q3D Raven so I can try and use 3D-Analyze [http://www.3dfxzone.it/files?object=3dfx&objid=100] Thanks again in advance for any help. Also, it appears that a fellow named Xenon-X had a patched .exe for the game... does anyone know if that person is still around or able to contact? UPDATE!: I just bought 2 AGP Q3D Raven's for $10 each.. Not too bad.. :) |

bloody crackers :)
wish I had the skill-I got a few old games here that need to be fixed in a similar way in order to play on new machines properly, and it seems like the magic just won't happen unless I do it myself..oh well, you know the old saying, you want something done right.. ;D edit: maybe you should make the files available, you know, for archivation purposes. |

There is another option for playing Rush the Rock....
Midway Arcade Treasures 3 for Playstation2 has several arcade games that used 3Dfx chips on Obsidian boards. San Francisco Rush -- The Rock: Alcatraz Edition (Atari FLAGSTAFF hardware: Voodoo1 -based but with 2 TMUs (2 TexelFX chips) - Obsidian 2440 ? San Francisco Rush 2049, (Atari DENVER hardware: Voodoo 3 based ?) Obsidian Hydro Thunder (Atari QUICKSILVER II hardware: (Voodoo3 based ?) Yeah, I saw that but wanted to run it in Glide... I'm pretty sure you cannot do that with the Treasures... either way I decided to buy it as it was pretty cheap ($9.95 shipped) I will let you all know how that goes... :)

What's the word Rotten? Have you had a chance to play the Treasures games?
Also, does anyone have the CD ISO for these games? I won a Raven PCI and would like to try these games out. |

@razerx - careful matey, takling about ISOs is a no-no... ::)
However, I DO believe that the modded .EXE files should be uploaded to the 3Dfx archive - it would be most useful! ;) |
Title: Re: Rush the Rock-Alcatraz Edition Post by razrx on 22.11.09 at 17:59:55
Hey Paul!
I thought I was ok asking for game ISOs, since the games I was asking for originally came with the Raven Banshee video card. Thanks for the tip. I agree with you when it comes to the modded game files. That would be nice to have, but I thought that the modded files be more risky to ask for than the original games. If anyone is looking for the Raven PCI BIOS, I can provide a copy. Raven BIOS 1.03.00-QA |

Once I had a program, using which you can force any device ID of graphic card to another program. My cousin used it to obtain free HL2 Deathmatch (it was free for ATi cards, and he has integrated Intel crap :) ). I'm sure this would work with this game, combined with a glide wrapper.

Would you upload the modded exe? Heres the weird thing, if I install the game manually instead of using the installer it'll work, just lack sound because it refuses to stream the music from the cd-rom for some reason..

I'm sorry that this is kind of off subject but is it wrong to ask about ISO's if the companies are no longer in business? We're on a forum about cards that haven't been in production since 2k and most of the games from back then are so old that quite a few of them are on free game sites or less then 5$. If we can't, we can't and it's fine, I was just wondering.

Ok, I am now starting a search for either a boxed Quantum3D Raven card (PCI Prefered), or maybe just the disc that came with the card that has San Francisco Rush the Rock-Alcatraz Edition. From what I could see, it was it's own individual disc. (maybe someone would be willing to sell that separately)
Either way please let me know if anyone has a boxed card for sale, or possibly just the Rush the Rock CD. Money is available or if you are interested I could trade something like a Voodoo5 5500 AGP 4x prototype. ;) Oh, and a small update. The game originally had a problem where when you bumped into other cars or railing it made the explosion sound. (at that time you still had the explosion sound when you crashed and burned) To fix that issue so that it only makes a "bump" noise when you hit another car or the railing I had to modify the .exe with a Hex Editor to change which .wav plays. Now I get the "bump" noise and all is good, but no explosion sound when actually blowing up. :( Maybe someone could look at that and figure it out? :) :) (I tried but must be missing something) The bump sound is carhit14.wav and the explosion is explomix.wav. The GOOD part about that is both of the file names are 8 characters long, so they can be swapped without messing up the format of the .exe. Also note that there are MULTIPLE entries for both .wav's... so maybe someone could figure out which need to be changed around for it to work. |

Still hoping someone want's to take a stab at correcting the sound files and how they play in the game... bump for that.
Oh, and just because I love the game so much I had to buy this : 8-) :D And the guts... These guys must have had a Q3D sense of humor... :) |

The unit is very nice, and also Big :)
Where do you intend to put it ? in your room ? How much cost such one ? |
Title: Re: Rush the Rock-Alcatraz Edition Post by rottentreats on 10.08.13 at 02:30:25
Yeah, big but well worth the $500. (and he gave me a big San Francisco Rush sign he had that went w/ the unit) It's going in my "man cave" in the basement of my house. It's such a blast, looking for another so I can link them :D

Good news is I found a Raven PCI for $25. Still wouldn't mind to find the actual San Fran Rush CD for sale.. I was also wondering if someone with an actual disc could install and try it out to see if they have the "explosion" sound when bumping into things... (wondering if I had a bad rip or something)
OR, I was still hoping someone would be willing to try and figure out how to modify the exe or sounds to make the sound normal. (bump sounds when bumping and explosion when actually exploding) Links in the first post! |
