Title: 3rd-party Voodoo3 found
Post by RaptorZX3 on 13.09.15 at 12:51:25
i found a Voodoo3 a few weeks ago, 3rd-party, but then i tried it on Windows98SE and it didn't seem to work.

Lately i removed parts from a Pentium 4 with AGP 2x/4x on it, so i decided to try WinXP for this card, and it seem to work fine so far, i tried DxDiag's Direct3D tests and Unreal Tournament set on Glide, and everything seem to work.

i checked on the database and it's a Powercolor EvilKing 3 Pro, with the TV-out connectors on it.

Is it possible that because of whatever problem a card might have, it can only be used on a certain OS such as Windows XP? (i know that my Creative Voodoo Banshee only work with Windows XP with the default drivers provided on the XP disc, if i try to update the drivers, i'm screwed)

As far as I know, there is no P4 chipset that supports the 3.3V needed for the card.

I will have a look for.you, but what chipset is on the motherboard??

it's a S478 board, MicroATX, the board is a DFI PM12-TL

If you click on the chipset name, it will show you only agp 4x support.....I would not.put the card on there anymore and hope it is not fried.

Newest chipset is KT333 you can use it on, AMD XP3000+ the fastest cpu.

well i got my answer here for the Asus TUV4X:
http://buttersideup.com/files/Via_Apollo_133_datasheets/DS694T100.pdf
(page 17, 3.3V is used for 2x mode, 1.5V is used for 4x mode)

well after trying a few different things on the TUV4X, it kept on crashing on me after installing XP. and YES i've put AGP 2x in the BIOS.

it feel like the main board is going bad.

now if i could find a MicroATX board with Socket370 supporting Tualatin core, with AGP 2x 3.3v and 4x 1.5v.

it's do damn had to find a MicroATX Pentium 3 board with AGP to start with (many of them didn't even had an AGP slot to cut cost, and almost all the P3 boards i find are ATX only)

what i really don't understand is...why does the DFI PM12-TL have an AGP 2x/4x slot when, as far as i know, all AGP 2x cards are 3.3V? they shouldn't work in that slot then, however they physically fit inside!

Chipset is a VIA P4M266A/VT8235CD

tested the card in Windows 98SE on a Pentium 3 Socket370 board, and it does work! The AGP slot is 4x/2x, but i assume since it's a Pentium 3 board, it must support 3.3V when required, it's the Intel 06P2525 board from a IBM Netvista A40 (model 6648SBU, as mentionned in the BIOS).

The board's chipset is Intel 815. Though there's no option in the BIOS to manually set the AGP speed to 4x, 2x or 1x.
