MSI MS-6168
11.09.09 at 11:00:17
Hi Guys!
I have bought a MS 6168. I have several Adapters for Socket 370 to Slot 1 Support.
Is it possible to run a 1300MHz Celeron Tualatin on a standard board with a standard Bios with an adapter?
Would a test damage the board?
What modification would I need if not?
Which BIOSes are safe to flash on the Board?
greetings to my 3dfx colleagues!

I doubt that a BX440 can support a Tualatin, no matter what BIOS you use. The risk of damage is low, but I wouldn't take a chance if that was my only MSI 3dfx board. available. Short story - try to find another CPU.

Which mainboard-revision do you have?
Which BIOS-version is currently flashed?

Once upon a time I recall seeing that an 800/256/100/1.65V [SL457] CPU was the max supported for that motherboard. I could be wrong however. ( I can verify that cpu worked with my 6168 )

Do you also have the version 2.0 manual?
Sorry to bother you again.
Or does anyone else have it?
My problem is I don´t know where the HDD LED, PWR LED and RST SW PINs are.

\The BX chipset supports this cpu, see this old page-

There are sellers who have the Powerleap unit which is your best bet as it has the power regulator built in.\

Is this the right one?
http://ebay.keeneyedeals.com/img/20090610/IMG_3695.JPG
I also upgraded the system:
Pentium 2 450MHz FSB100
256MB PC133
It is a huge difference compared to the 333MHz FSB66 !
But I get no sound.
I tried several soundblaster cards and the onboard. I don´t have the right drivers.
One time I installed everything correctly but I had to turn my speakers aaaall the way up to hear "a bit of noise/sound"
Very weak.
Right now I have a CT4810 Creative Card installed. I am trying to get the right drivers but I don´t even know the name of the model...
Ensoniq? SB16??
