Title: PVR - PURE3D ? Post by Darrin Fuller on 11.03.06 at 01:47:58
Hi guys, I stumbled across this board in a search for more information on an ancient pure3d video card i have.
I am trying to make a low budget PVR ( personal video recorder) using an old computer and 2nd hand components. The only TV-out card i have in my pile of spares is an old pure3d. Is it possible to use these cards to get DVD output from a dvd reader to the TV screen ? I am in australia so need to go with PAL , and the card will only output the desktop in NTSC ( i have nothing to convert the NTSC with so need to output PAL video directly ) I realise that the most logical choice would be to get a newer card but I am on a budget and if possible would like to use this card or at least be told in no uncertain terms that it is useless, so I have an excuse to spend the dollars on something newer. anyhelp is much appreciated. Darrin PS: System is a intel 810e chipset board pIII 833 so the main graphics controller is the 810e intergrated chip. |

I'd think you have two choices:
1) Change (flash) the card's BIOS to a BIOS of a card which has a PAL TV out, or 2) Sell the card and buy a lousy old ATI Rage or similar card (if you're on budget) I hate the option 2) but... :( |

Canopus Pure 3D is a Voodoo Graphics with 6MB, there is no BIOS to flash
some Voodoo rush and the Q3D mercury have a jumper to change betwine PAL and NTSC. the Pure 3D dont have a jumper but maybe you can cange it with a soldering iron |

Might be just a driver option, it was with a Pace3D Banshee card I was tinkering with. |
