Mechwarrior 2 3DFX edition...

Alright, I got this game with an HP comp that came with a Voodoo 1. Later, we upgraded it to a Voodoo 2 and gave the V1 away. Now, years later, I'm having a hell of a time getting it to work again. The game itself runs, but it just goes back to the menus when I try to launch a mission. Heres the specs of the system I'm using:
Pentium 2 266mhz
96mb Ram
Sound Blaster AWE 64
Video - I have an AGP V3 2000, and a V2 in front of the integrated ATI rage whatever (think its what came before the rage, lol). Which should I be using, and at what settings/drivers?

DOS games like Mech. 2 are more compatible with the Voodoo 2 - so use that...
Also, if you have BOTH cards in the same system, the drivers will conflict with each other...
If you have the Voodoo 3 installed also, this can be fixed by...
1. Remove both Voodoo cards and uninstall ALL 3Dfx drivers.
2. Re-insert the Voodoo 2.
3. Re-install Voodoo 2 drivers.
Then try the game again.
If it still refuses to work, come back and ask for some more help - there's always someone in the forum who's willing to lend a hand!

I wish I had the dos version... This is the win 95 voodoo 1 edition. Oddly, I have never seen it work under ANY other card. Ill try using just the v2 and uninstalling the drivers. What driver do you suggest for the V2?

Hm, Mechwarrior was one of the first games that was specifically optimized for every single 3D Accelerator out there at this time.
Since the optimization and 3D was card specific, I'd assume compatibility issues will naturally arise (since the Games used internal Drivers I guess).
Not sure, but I'm afraid that one might be a hard nut to crack, did you try the (otherwise unused) Voodoo1 Emulation options (e.g. Limit Video RAM etc.) of the Voodoo2 ?
This Site might help with tips & tricks :
http://www.geocities.com/k_lupinsky/index.htm
It's the most comprehensive Mechwarrior II 3D support Site I've ever seen.

Awesome. I knew I had seen that site before, but I couldn't find it. Now it works. Pretty nostalgic, lol.
