Programming with Glide
03.03.10 at 22:35:57
Inspired by blueshogun96's post, I finally decided to ask you: do/did you write any games/demos for your Voodoos with Glide? Does this hurt?
I did some programming with OpenGL + GLSL and later when I skimread the glide programming guide, it looked so much different, just like a 3d triangle drawer. I mean, no rotations, translations etc. All this have to be done manually on the cpu side right? Oh, and is it possible to program Glide on Linux?

It's been a long time (years) since I've used Glide for anything. I have the 3Dfx Glide 2 and 3 SDKs on my laptop, but lately, I've been mostly focused on commercial app programming (although still want to write demos too from time to time). I'd like to get back into Glide programming sometime, but it should wait until I can get my older PC up and running again. I can barely remember exactly how Glide works, but if you know your 3D vector math, than using Glide should be no problem for you! And yes, there is a Glide SDK for linux.
Good luck!
