Bad eBay Experiences -
15.10.08 at 10:36:33

Feel free to share your stories of bad experiences on eBay.. I think we have all had atleast a few...

There are so many stupid people on eBay...

Ok, so I won the following auctions on eBay, the seller he said he would combine shipping.. awesome!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170267363555
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170268379946

Upon receiving the cards and opening up the package I saw EXACTLY the following: (can you see what is wrong with the picture?)
...
Yes you are seeing it right, two caps snapped off and it wasnt even in the antistatic bag, or any cushion!

I then sent the following message:
"I am VERY unsatisfied with the item(s) received. Upon opening the package there was NO bubble wrap and NO packing peanuts or nothing. The cards were just flopping around for hundreds of miles. I removed the first card, the cables, and the manual, then I saw the bottom card.. Which was NOT in the antistatic bag, and had two of the resistors snapped off! (from the rough shipping with no cushion, thanks to you) Needless to say I have tested that card and it does NOT work. Let me know what you would like to do in this situation. In a pissed off rage I was about to leave negative feedback, but here I am giving you an option to redeem yourself. Please see the following pictures as to what I received: http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/4959/87558925ic8.jpg | http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/1961/98112313qq3.jpg I don't think you would be too happy either."

He then responded with:
"Hello, I assure you that both items were in antistatic bags and both were in pink bubble wrap as per your request in the payment details. I am taking your word that the package was as you say it was. Most likely someone checking the packages for something worth while to steel. I would normally have you file a claim for the insurance, But I feel this would just enrage you further. So I will offer a refund for the card that was damaged. I not really concerned which one, I will refund the price of 27.99 one. Also I would ask that you hold on to the damaged card because I will be filing a claim with the post office and they may want to see it. Very sorry this happened and I hope this solution is acceptable, if not let me know.
Roc"

I just thought I would share this awesome little story.  So he is full of sh*t.  Oh well, I actually have not tested the cards yet but they probably still work... but what an idiot.

/edit: Ok, the cards work, both individually, and in SLI.  ( I will still get my refund however.. )

Had a similar happening on a larger scale, but after Forum buy (not this Forum luckily).

Alot of Cards, which were packed in antistatic bags, BUT 2 cards in one bag each (!).
Needless to say, the respective two 'bag buddies' scratched, bent and damaged each other during transport.

I was quite pissed, because I clearly ordered working cards and made clear that I would use them in my Systems.

Took me several hours to fix a good dozen cards that otherwise would have immediately short circuited upon powerup...

I know you feel pretty ticked off atm, but those things do actually happen. Customs do have the right to open parcels etc, and if somebody had bad intentions they could do that. I'm not saying that is what happened, but it certainly could happen. It's one of those things that you just don't know 100% for certain if they are speaking the truth or not. I've had emails before, and they were a fair bit different to the polite email he sent you, he could be telling the truth?

I've got a bad experience, bought an item from Australia, and it took 10 days for him to get back to me and sent me a shipping invoice, I sent him emails from nice to a little bit irritated, and this is what he emailed me back :

Quote:
mate drop the f*king negitive threats because im quite pissed off with it from buyers since the s*** changes by those f*wits at ebay i had to work the postage out and decide if i would post it overseas the item is marked post to australia and for some reason i cant change it for some reason i dont know how long it takes to get there either never sent overseas so just wait and it will come mate

Okay, I saw the item which was unique, I immediately bought it without seeing if they would ship it overseas, but there weren't any shipping restrictions on it, so I was able to buy it.

It was really unnecessary to react that way, I've not received the card yet, but hopefully it will come within the next month.

Aussie sounded pissed!  Shocked

My situation:
The guy lives in the US and was only 518 miles away from me.  So no one from the postal service would have opened the package.  The package was clearly only taped once, so no one had opened it. (except for me)

...

I think he just isn't very smart and didn't have the common courtesy to package the items nicely.  He recently wrote me the following:

"This is just a question having to do with the Voodoo cards. A co-worker and I were just discussing how old and out of date the cards are. I was asking him if he knew why they would still be useful. He has no clue but we agree they are great video cards. I was curious as to what you find them useful for and the reason you purchase them. Just being nosey."

I have not responded, nor do I intend to.  I have been refunded $30 out of the $42 spent, and I am totally ok with the outcome.  Cool

(btw, I have NEVER had my packages from overseas opened, I also dont have custom fee's...  Cheesy )

ALSO, let it be known I left positive feedback for both items.

@ROTTEN ->  yeah, who the hell steals bubble wrap anyways......  LOL

Smiley  Yes, there are lots of idiots out there....  *sigh*

Here's a couple stories, one ok and one not ok.

1 - I bought an nVidia card from a guy in Florida and he didn't ship the card with anything in the box... just the card.  So needless to say, some capacitors broke off and were rolling around in the box when I got it.  Luckily I am an amateur-intermediately skilled in soldering.  I resoldered the parts and luckily it worked!  Positive feedback was left.

2 - I bought a sealed V5MAC Euro box.  The seller then decided to break the seal and open the box to "ensure that everything was included" to make sure I got everything I was supposed to.  Add to that, the seller wrapped the box in bubble wrap and then paper, no cardboard box!!!!  Grrrrr.  So when I got the item, I was like WTF!!!!  what happened to my nice rigid, sealed box!  The seller had no clue what he had done.  Luckily I got a semi refund.... but still what a moron!

Oh man, that must have sucked very badly, let's have a look if everything is in there. D'oh.

Now that you've said all those things Jason (is it Jason?) you are right, it sound very fishy to me. Not good at all.
