Best Driver for Voodoo 5500 and W2K?
29.05.03 at 16:47:43

Hi there,

Just got my Voodoo 5500 AGP through the post this morning, yip, yip!

Can someone please advise the best driver to use with Windows 2K and a Pentium II 450MHZ machine?

Basically I want to use this card to build a 'Glide box', mainly for Red Baron 3D.

Also can anyone advise the speed of proceesor that the Voodoo 5 will top out with scaling wise?

Andy

Hm, with the P2-450, it's won't matter much, which Driver you choose.

For a beginning, just use the latest reference Driver.

It really depends on which Games you play, but a ~1000MHz Athlon or Pentium 3 is commonly percieved as a useful combination with a Voodoo5 5500, and an AthlonXP level CPU being ideal.

Well, I downloaded the Amigamerlin driver to try out the card initially (before I got your advice), seems to work okay, although my Direct 3D applications don't seem to like it.
Loading up 'Flying Model Simulator' crashed and rebooted my machine- guess that one needs hardware T & L as it works great with my Geforce 2 Titanium card!

A friend of mine should be coming up with a good Pentium III machine soon, and I plan to put the Voodoo 5500 in that and make it a Glide box.

Cheers

Andy
