Correct, you can find some of the LCD's on Ebay that use this connector.

Digital transmission is limited to 24 bits. Before DVI was standard DFP was used for panel drive. That is used on the V3 card.

The signalling method is the same (TMDS Transition Minimized Differencial Signaling) on both DFP and DVI. 1 clock and 3 colors of 8 bits each. DVI was later expanded to include 6 color chanels (Dual link), but the standard is still only used to support 24 bit color at higher resolutions.

that is support for the DVI

here's what Hank said what it exactly was Wink

Quote:
The big 3DFX chip to the left top is LCD scaling chip.

V3 could not scale up to provide digital drive to fixed resolution digital monitor.

If you had monitor that could only support 1024 by 768, you could not drive basic VGA modes onto the screen without it.

Actually a 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 PCI 16MB 7ns SGRAM Rev.D 0700 right? hmm only packed by another vendor, maybe that vendor bought the left overs from 3dfx, Though I have seen some of these on ebay some time ago, I do remem that I posted it in the ebay topic, it was being sold by an Australian bloke. But hey still a nice Find.  8)

Looks like the box is in "mint" condition, sadly sometimes rare boxes (e.g. VoodooMAC 5500 PCI euro-box) can be found only in bad conditions.

Apart from the box it's a common (repacked) V3 3k PCI, isn't it?
