Title: homemade driver that works Post by recoton on 02.11.02 at 20:00:34
the newer games i had wouldnt let me play them so i
got nuangles driver, mike pedos driver and the new glide dlls and put copied them into the 3dfx underground 1.04 beta drivers.now i can run games like gta 3, ut2003demo,duke nukem ,hitman2,and even n.o.l.f. 2 demo but i have to have 3d analyzer which you have to run it at least once with hardware t&l set also in the 1.04 beta tools make sure that you dont turn on mipmapping and hsr set and the game will work or it does on my machine.a quick way to put these file in windows system is go in safe mode because one of the files wont let you do it starting normal.if you use nuangels dirver it will work, but has some issues that i didnt like and the 1.04 drivers look 10 time better.now what the names of the files are is nuangels driver-3dfx32vs.dll,mike pedos driver-3dfx16vs.drv and last the new glide dlls-glide 2x,dll,glide 3x.dll.if you would like to tinker and try this i can email them to you but dont blame me if it doesnt . i dont have another computer like my 1200 thunderbird to try this on.this was done on a voodoo 5 5500 agp.i also tried it on a voodoo3 3000 and could play gta 3 and duke nukem without any issues.so if you do this keep this post updated with your findings and i can see if you did what i tried |

okay did you try it with just defaults set?well start there and work around that. if that doesnt work
try the 1.04 drivers and ill send you the files i put into windows system and see what that does.i did get gta 3 to work on the voodoo 5 and the voodoo 3 but couldnt do it before without 3d analyzer 1.52. write back and tell me if anything worked for you. |

Huh? How do you "fuse" drivers???
And which settings are on and off in your 3dfx tools? Finally, if you can, could you plz send me the files you put in windows system? My email is maxi24@videotron.ca Thx! Hope it'll work!!! |

Ok thx :P Now (I think that's my last question, for now lol), what are "the new glide dlls " ??? Where do you get em? (can't find any "new" glide2x.dll )
And plz tell us all your settings in 3dfx underground tools (like: edge anti-aliasing off, etc.), or at least everything that is on in your tools. Thx! I really hope it'll work! |

before you guys go and do anything else why dont you
get a copy of the nuangel5 driver and run that to see if it will work for you, mainly im talking to bas-bleu. its on nuangel.net.patience did you try the nuangel driver with just defaults installed.there are some little quirks that i dont have any control over one is most game that tell you your adapter display say that it is a 3d analyzer video card which means the newer games will play good in d3d and looks great but open gl games i had to use wicked 3d to take control over 3d analyzer, which the graphics are still great. nuangels driver is probably more compatible but the graphics werent near as good, i think that the driver i put together is better than any driver i ever used if you still want the files i have i will send them to you via email but at least try to make nuangels driver work. its possible patience that you need to redo windows on your computer.i had a issue with max payne and the 3dhq tools but resolved it afte reinstalling windows. with the driver i made max payne is relly dark and crashes on exiting the game.but i dont care about that game now and can always put the other files back any time.i would suggest if you dont have a large amount of experience messing with drivers i would steer away of messing with it because windows gets mad at you sometimes .also im running windows me. |

Well i'm running Windows ME' athlon thunderbird 1000 mhz, and I have tried NuAngel drivers before and they are not working... GTA 3 crashes, and it still crashes when I do what I think you meant in your first post.
So could you please send me your files via email? I would really appreciate it!!! My email is (once again :P) : maxi24@videotron.ca Thx! |

okay guys and girls i think visually this is the best driver i have ever seen for a voodoo 5 my experience is
that the way the driver is set up it tells the game that it is a 3d analyzer video card only if you set it up the first time in 3d analyzer itself.which means it comes up where it says the video card and says its a 3d analyzer i did get max payne to run right its all in how you set it up in 3d analyzer.nolf 2 uses hardware t&l and and i know for fact voodoo 5 will do that but only if you set it up in 3d analyzer.im sure the only way you can get what i have right no is to make the nuangel 5 driver work on your computer work ,then once you put the files in that i replaced and a little messing around you will get graphic better than you have ever seen.i dont know what nuangel done to code more informayion into the 3dfx32vs.dll file but whatever he did was a good thing and between the drivers weve had them for quite a while.so if nuangel driver will work for you you can make it that much better if you want to experiment |

Huh... I don't understand what you're saying... What's your native language? Cause it doesn't look like it's english....
But I wanna know about GTA3! How did you make that game work on a AMD! On my computer, it ALWAYS crash while I'm playing, and I've tried a lot of thing.... |

Hm, if anyone really managed to get GTA3 to run with a Voodoo on an AMD system (if that's what he means), that would be a very nice thing to have ;)
Since GTA3 is Direct3D (right?), I don't understand how the Glide core would have any impact on it though (?) If it works, should be the DirectX files doing it, with 3D Analyzer 'freeing the way' initially (that's the way I understand it)... |
Title: Re: homemade driver that works Post by recoton on 04.11.02 at 15:44:55
that pretty much what i think its doing 3danalyzer
reacts differently to it now,now opengl games look better but i have to use wickedgl to take over what 3danalyer is doing and the games look a lot better with the dlls that i found compatible with the 109 beta 4 drivers.i couldnt use both of nuangels dlls becuase it corrupted the image.it seems to be compatible with any game i been using espically with newer games hardware t&l seems to work better also.falconfly if you have time to set up nuangels 5 driver on 1 of your machines try it,his driver worked on evry new game i tried without messing with 3rd party utilities dut with the 109 beta 4 drivers and a dll from nuangels driver and 1 from mike pedos driver the games play but graphics are much better because of the underground optimazation. |

Hmm...
I read what NuAngel said himself about this Driver (it's basically just another inf mod), and he was greatly surprised how well it worked... OpenGL isn't touched by any Driver, all still use the standard old 1.0.0.0761 Win2k Version. Anything really different would be indeed caused by WickedGL. The 3dfxU V1.09.00 Beta4 also uses the 1.0.0.0761, so nothing should change there without WickedGL (?) I used the NuDriver5 with UT2003 and a V5 on my Win98 machine, and it was not different than using the x3dfx V1.07.00 (both use the same DirectX core). Other than that, I personally didn't note any drastic changes, although I don't own a single Game that I know would cause significant trouble with a Voodoo5 anyway... What puzzles me is that you say Hardware T&L works "better" ??? Do you mean the "Emulate HW T&L" in 3D Analyzer ? Because if not, there isn't any HW T&L done by the Voodoo5 in any case (?) If a Game really uses it, and 3D Analyzer cannot cover it up as planned, it won't work. |

I'm pretty sure GTA3 is impossible ton run on an AMD, at least on my computer... I've tried every thing I can think of with no success!!! And plz recoton, could you send me the files you put in Windows/System ??? I'd really like to try your "driver", because I think I did what you say, but it still freezes. So plz send me your files! Thx!

Title: Re: homemade driver that works Post by BaS_BleU on 05.11.02 at 01:42:23
Ok, maybe you sent em but I didn't receive em :(
Dunno if you took the good address: it's: maxi24@videotron.ca But did you send it with an hotmail account? Because if so, that's why it didn't work. Hotmail can't send more than 1-2 megs (something like that) or it doesn't send. If you did use the correct address, well I really don't know what went wrong... I have an hotmail too, but it probably won't accept it because the files are too big. I'll give it anyway: junkway@hotmail.com . It's an empty email, but I don't think hotmail will accept it. So please check if you had the correct email: maxi24@videotron.ca |

okay for some reason i had a extra extension on
your email address i sent the important files to you which consists of two files .make sure you have the 109 beta 4 drivers and 3d analyzer 1.52. that way i know we are operating on the same level.if you used just 3d analyzer and the beta 4 drivers grand theft auto should work any way. |
Title: Re: homemade driver that works Post by BaS_BleU on 05.11.02 at 03:13:31
Still didn't receive it.... Don't know what's the problem, I jsut sent myself an email and it worked... Do you have MSN messenger or ICQ? If so, my MSN is the_ruler_man@hotmail.com and my ICQ is 32594823
If not, well it doesn't matter, I'll just wait for the new drivers (or buy myself a GeForce4 Ti 4200 :P) |
