Banshee or V3?
24.06.05 at 00:29:33
Got a question, I've got two machines that I have one set up already with Win 98 and a V3 that's running some of my older dos games (Duke Nukem, SW, Rogue Squadron) but it's a 450 PIII slot. I just aquired a 667 PIII that's a socket chip, but there is no AGP slot on the board (it's a dell Dimension). One of these machines is has to go away, just don't have the room for having both plus my regular gaming machine. Would you keep the 450 with the V3 in it since it's got an AGP slot or keep the 667 and just use the banshee? I don't quite remember what the differences are between the two cards so if someone wants to add that, that'll be cool. They are both 16 meg cards so I'm thinking of using the 667 with the banshee in it. I'd like to hear thoughts though. Thanks guys.

I would find out what the fastest CPU I could put into the 450 motherboard. If it won't go higher that a 600MHz then you might want to look for a V5 5500 PCI version for the 667;)

V3 has multitexture - stick with that! 8)
Also, slightly higher performance than Banshee...

Thanks guys, just thought I'd see what you thought. I've got a V5 but it's AGP and in a 1.8 AMD machine. Not really sure if I can upgrade the cpu on the 450, it's a IBM Aptiva so I'm not really sure if how much it'll upgrade. Wasn't really looking at spending any money on these since it's for older games anyway. Since the IBm is already set up, I'm probably going to see if I can't get 75-100$ for the dell and call it a day. Thanks for the input though.
