German mail can be rather slow, more so during the holidays. I'd give it anotother week or two.

Well, I got another record, box was shipped 15 november, it came today, 15 december, that's 6 weeks and 2 days. German post is absolutely ridiculous. Wahnsinn!

Cardboard box where it came in got pressed flat on one side, box didn't come wrapped in bubblewrap, just with some news papers on one side. Box isn't in spectacular condition, but it's not bad either.

To avoid such things, I always send a message to the seller similar to the following:

"Please package the item with extra care so that it does not get damaged while in transit. (in another cardboard box with bubble wrap, packing peanuts, etc)  The condition of the item is very important to me and your feedback will depend on what kind of condition the item arrives in.  Thank you in advance for packaging the item so nicely."

Hope that helps some of you...I know it has saved me from a few headaches, as I have only had a few bad experiences.

That would help, normally I actually always say that, don't know why I didn't this time.

Heads up! It's _not_ a Mega Monster set. Both cards have D-Sub connectors. Image is most likely taken from the internet.

I asked the seller, he said both cards are identical.

People are absolutely mad, shell bidding at it's finest.

EUR 60 for a V5 AGP.

Haha, wooops, that was a funny typo.  Grin

What the heck, I googled it, and apparently it means something entirely different to what I thought. I thought shill bidding is people keep outbidding each other way over the actual value of the item, but that's not shill bidding apparently.

Quote:
Definition: Shill bidding is the act of bidding on your own auction against other bidders in order to raise the price at which your item will eventually sell. It is a violation of both eBay rules and federal law.

Note that on eBay and in most real-life auctions, a bid on an item from anyone related to the seller in almost any way, from friends and family to business associates and roommates, is considered to be a shill bid, will not be honored, and will almost certainly disqualify the seller—even if the bidder would have purchased the item.

What this means is that you can not buy from your family and friends on eBay, no matter what, no exceptions. That is the nature of auction selling.

eBay uses very sophisticated tools to catch shill bidders, so sophisticated that many first-time shills are surprised. Shill bidding renders you subject to suspension or other punishments, so be smart and don't bid on your own, or on your mother's or sister's or aunt's auctions, no matter how much you'd like to.

Lol, I can't believe eBay's stupid policy, you can't bid on items from friends and family to business associates and roommates.

Whatever, that's ridiculous.

I asked the seller about having the box (cause he mentions it in the auction), and he said he was just about to throw it out.  He said it was in too good of condition to throw out and he was going to keep it.  Since I used BIN he is gonna send that to me too! Smiley

Not very fair on others, but allowed on eBay.

To avoid this, always place a bid, no matter how small it is, then it can't be turned into Buy it now. Or just offer it yourself, seeing nothings fair in the world anyway.

Uhm, Tim, I think you are misunderstanding him. He used the Buy it Now option. Nothing unfair about that.

There was no Buy it now option was there?

It's about him PM'ing the person with an offer, and the seller turns an auction into a Buy it now, and he buys it, usually for peanuts, like in this example. He's done it before, also with an auction I was going to bid on. I'm not having a go at him, I just think it might be worth thinking over again, if it's really that fair on others. But oh well, nothings fair in this world I guess.

It's legal, but I think I'm going to do the same in future, I don't want to be caught out any more on things.

First-come, first-served IMHO.

First and foremost I did
not
contact this seller with an offer, the BIN option was always there.  With this particular item it was a BIN, with option of bidding.  So I placed a bid, and then once I got some confirmation from the seller, I retracted my bid and used BIN.

I just lucked out that no one else bid.  Otherwise my devious plan would have failed horribly. (unless an offer was high enough to cancel the auction and sell directly outside of eBay)

So just like everything in life, it's all about tactics.  I may have just gave away a trick that others have not thought of ... but I really don't care, now it's fair game.

If there wouldn't have been a BIN option in the first place the description would have been revised and that is noted in the auction (after "Description" you get a notification that it has been revised and you can look what has been revised, e.g. an added BIN price).

In this case there was a BIN price when the auction started so it's just a case of showing off what a bargain that was - IMO this thread is for ongoing auctions, not for auctions you won, for that we have the "Who collects 3dfx cards on the board?"-thread, but then again opinions differ.

I don't like auctions with "forced" BIN-endings, too, but I won one once, too, albeit I didn't contact the seller, it was somebody else I think, I just happened to see the added BIN price at first.
