Title: Need help getting Fallout to work.
Post by bucksavage on 24.09.11 at 17:28:50
My specs:  WinXP sp3 running on a p4 1.4 with 1280 megs ram, and an Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200 128mb vid card.

I recently bought the first PC Fallout game.  Installation went perfectly fine on my PC.  But when I go to load the game, it craps out just after the dos box pops up; just after the screen goes black, there is a error noise, then nothing and I have to bring up the task manager to shut the program down to get my desktop to show again.

I've tried compatibility modes, no help.  Any ideas?

One of the tricks posted on the forum thread you linked to worked.  Thanks!

Enjoy the game mate! That must be one of the best RPGs I have ever played and certainly one of the funniest! Try playing with an unbalanced character for most fun - either with a complete genius brainiac which can't heave a weapon or with a rock-steady, very lucky idiot that clubs his way through :)

Good old times...  8-)

P.S. The old fallout is much, much better in story and atmosphere then the new 3D-ultra-giga-mega-graphics one.
