Ive bought a 2nd hand voodoo3 card & it wont work with my PC!!  I think its the motherboard (matsonic 8308EP) its got a built-in SIS 630 AGP chipset and an AGP slot! My guess is the SIS chipset is conflicting with the voodoo! Am I right? Does any know of any patches for my voodoo and / or motherboard??  Please help!  If any one fixes my problem i'll send them some wholesale lists!!  Please reply to my email as well as this!!  m.bringloe@v21mail.co.uk

My V3 is AGP.
Theres no option in BIOS to disable the onboard VGA, only to adjust shared memory size & switch between AGP & PCI.  My problem is:  in windows 98, every V£ driver I install the mouse pointer is a black square box roughly the width of the start button & the system crashes when I try to run directdraw or direct3d tests!  In windows XP it wont even boot up, it crashes just before the welcome screen!

other than disabling the onboard video , it could be the   V3 has an old bios or the original , i`ve got 2 power color V3 s one has the original bio s the other has the latest . the old one won`t install , Xp doesn`t detect it properly , and it crashes or doen`t initialize properly . The 98 problem seems odd probably a conflict with the onboard video , without disabling it hard to work out the errors .

Far shot, but have you tried Disabling the OnBoard VGA in the Windows Device Manager ?

It should prompt for a reboot, after which you don't reboot, but shutdown. Insert the Voodoo Card, and Power up.

If there's a conflict between those 2 VGA Adapters, that workaround 'might' solve it.

I've never pulled off a stunt like this, but in theory, it should work, since Windows takes over the Device Management over the Bios (for as long as 'Plug&Play OS Installed = Enabled), even if the Bios itself does not offer an Option to Disable the Device in question by itself...

Ive come to the conclusion that patience has cracked mentioning that the m/b AGP is 4x & the v3 is2x.  Ive tried almost everything in the bios and windows device manager but im taken back to the same problems!!!  Instead of gettin rid of the v3, im going to swap the m/b for one that doesnt have onboard VGA & audio!!  It might be nice having everything integrated into the m/b but its not everyones cup of tea!!!  Anyway, cheers everyone for the help - most appreciated ;)

Does any one know of any sites that have bios updates for the v3 card??
