Title: Serious V5 driver problems
Post by AzzKickr on 13.03.10 at 13:57:13
The problems I have: none of the SFFT drivers work for me. The only SSFT driver working for me is the latest non-unified architecture driver but that's an old driver already.

Furthermore I'm unable to get 3Dfx tools running, regardless of what driver I use, tried almost all of them. Clean XP SP3 install.
I'm begining to think it has something to do with the Windows version I'm using (a pre-tweaked not so legal one)

I had EXACTLY the same problem as yourself, none of the SFFT drivers would work on my copy of XP SP3,I downloaded the AmigaMerlin driver and it worked no problem,3dfx tools as well  8-)

The proof is in the pudding ;)

just making sure-you know that you have to install the SFFT driver manually via the device manager, right? if you did it some other way,it may not be loaded correctly..

Thx for the replies guys ! Indeed I did try to install them every way possible, both via device manager as the setup.exe file[s]

Amigamerlin indeed works, but still no 3Dfx tools. I simply cannot get them running.

I now reinstalled XP, this time a legit version with SP1 and now 3Dfx tools works.

So Im gonna try and install SFFT and afterwards reformat and try the SP3 again.

OK, SFFT 1.5 also works on this Xp SP1 install. Hmmmm.

Now getting ready to install the SP3 again. Be back later. Thx.

Indeed. I'm with you on this one. The Windows I'm using is extensively altered but I haven't had any issues with it, until now with the V5 card.

I will test it later on as I'm currently playing around a bit with my old 6800GT card. Turns out the retromachine handles COD MW2 very well for it's age !! So I'm currently having some fun testing newer games on this older piece of HW.

I will retest the V5 vs altered XPSP3 issue later on.
