SFFT ALPHA 47 / Amigasport 3.0 problems/ WinXP

I use a Voodoo3 2000 PCI vid card and I recently set a dual boot setup up on my pc with XP and Win98. The Win 98 drivers are fine, but I tried the Amigasport 3.0 for XP and it gave a few errors but installed not too badly, but upon reboot the driver was loaded ok, but 3dfx tools was not, though the 3dfx taskman was there. As for the XP SFFT driver it wouldn't install, and gave errors saying there was more than one inf file in the package and then quit. Can someone tell me how to install the SSFT driver correctly?

never had this kind of error.anyway,I would avoid the a47 release,either go for A41 (last one with support for original 3dfx glides),or one of the latest releases (A58+).

the correct way would be installing manually via the device manager,there should be only one inf for opening..

that reminds me,I have actually created a custom version of the A41 driver (fixed all registry/3dfx tools related problems,readded the latest original glides and 3dfx icd to maximize compatibility with old glide/opengl games),if you want to try it out,you can find it here (3dfx tools are not included,just get the latest standalone version from the Archive).stability or compatibily is not different from the standard release.

Thanks for the help and the link; I am gonna try that now in fact. At first I didn't get what you meant by device manager but then I realized what you meant. I will give it a whirl and post back with the results.

It works so far....though the only thing I really tried was Diablo 2 LOD. Haven't played it yet but it's video setup uitlity actually shows glide as a choise to use now so that is a good thing. Thanks for the advice.

Further tries later I can't get the 3dfx tools to work right. I got the latest ones in the falconfly archive, installed them and right near the end I get this error:

Error 1904 Module C:\program files\3dfx Interactive\3dfx Tools\tools\advtweak.dll failed to register
Hr result -2147418133

I get this error for color.dll, tvout.dll, feature.dll and LCD.dll as well and I have also tried the tools package in the amigasport 3.0 for xp driver and I get similar errors. Why is this happening? All that really ends up installing du eto this is the 3dfx taskman thing but no tools???

Well, techincally I suppose I do but it does not start becasue I disabled it when I first installed the Voodoo card and I don't use it at all. I never had a single problem with the 3dfx tools in win98se though even with the diabled onboard video. I also just disabled the onboard video using the winxp device manager.

I uninstalled them after I used device manager to totally disable the secondary onboard video and then reinstalled the 3dfx tools and it worked fine this time. I guess it was the other video....

I hope this xp driver does as well.
