Just an advice to every voodoo card owner. Buy a new card. This is not meant to be cocky, but its going nowhere with those cards. I loved my v3 and didnt wanna get rid of it, but I was tired of all searching for drivers and poor support. Even sof2 worked with my voodoo card. Well I went out buying a gf 4mx 440, and I must say, Im stunned about how much better the graphic looks. I only payed 80 euros for the card. Its a crappity smacking bargain. Just my 2 cents........

Fair enough.

But not everyone can afford a new card (and, more crucially, the entire new system that's necessary to do that card justice).  Also, many people are happy playing older classic games.

I installed a GeForce2 GTS well over two years ago now and I still play more games on my Voodoo2 SLI rig on this system.  Games are improving graphically but the written-by-committee mentality that's taken over now only the big companies create games has lost us something.

There are still many, many people playing DOS games on 486s and having a great time.  Sure, some of us are poor.  But perhaps it's also that we're not all driven by market forces and peer pressure.  ;)

How much does it cost at all? I checked e-bay.de for selling my amd k6-2 350 mhz and buying a 500 mhz or more but even when i sell my old cpu for the prices i found for other 350's i pay more than 30 euros for a speed increase of 150mhz. In magazines i found new ghz cpus for 45 euros. The same discrepance i found in older used graphic cards and harddrives. I think these old things are more expensive because people who can't afford a new system pay much more to get the last out of their old system because it's too expensive to buy a whole new system whith all new standards and the incompatibilities to their old components. I would love to exchange my ati agp 2x rage pro turbo 4mb and my 4mb monster 3d voodoo 1 for a voodoo 3 but it's too expensive as well as the cpu upgrade, well at least for me ;-(

Regards,
Andreas

I didnt wanna be smartarse like lads. I LOVED MY VOODOO card and had it for 3 and a half years. I was just tired looking for new drivers or utilities when I bought new games. I love playing older games aswell, thats why I still have my old computer. Cheers mates!!!

I must say that  felt very sorry exchanging my ole voodoo3 card. It still ran jedi knight 2 and sof2 very well. I bought the new card cause there were some glitches in several games due to directx8.1, and cause I look in the future. I dont wanna wait playing games cause I have to find some underground drivers. I really miss the old PC games days, when not as many idiots ran around. It was a smaller and more knowledgable group, and games were a bit more demanding =). Im glad that lucasarts is gonna release new adventures. My voodoo3 card will do its service in my old computer now. Voodoo forever, even though I cheated and use a nvidia now =)
