The DirectDraw portion of the drivers supports Direct3D when using DirectX 7.0 NOTE: DirectX 7.0 redistributable files should be used with these drivers! Requirements ------------ - Windows 95/98 - PC with a Pentium, Pentium II, or Pentium Pro Processor, Cyrix Mx, Cyrix M2, AMD K6, AMD K62 and AMD K63 and a free AGP or PCI slot - 16MB of RAM ======================================================================= Installation ======================================================================= The following three sections will describe how to install the software for your new 3dfx V3 3500 card. ***The correct sequence must be followed for a proper installation of this driver*** FRESH INSTALLATION ------------------ NOTE: Complete Steps 1 and 2 before removing your existing 2D card. 1) Before removing your existing 2D card switch the video driver to Standard VGA. Click Start, Control Panel. Double-click on Display. Select 640X480 and 16 colors. Accept the changes. 2) Power off the system and remove your existing 2D card. 3) Install the Voodoo3 Card in a free AGP or PCI Slot 4) Power on the system and verify that video appears during P.O.S.T. 5) Start Windows in normal mode (Once Windows starts you may be notified that no video device exists, click Cancel if this message appears) 6) Now follow sections A, B and C. UPGRADE EXISTING VOODOO3 DRIVER ------------------------------- 1) Follow sections A, B and C. SECTION A: INSTALLING THE DRIVER -------------------------------- a) Open the directory where the files were extracted to. b) Select Drivers\Win98\Setup.Exe c) When prompted if you wish to install the driver, click 'Yes'. SECTION B: INSTALLING 3DFX TOOLS -------------------------------- d) Uninstall all previous versions of 3dfx Tools. e) Open the directory where the files were extracted to. f) Select 3dfxTool\Setup.Exe g) Follow the instructions on the screen. h) When prompted if you wish to restart your computer, click 'Yes'. SECTION C: INTALLING VISUAL REALITY ----------------------------------- i) Uninstall all previous versions of Visual Reality. j) Open the directory where the files were extracted to. k) Select 3dfx_VR\Setup.Exe l) Follow the instructions on the screen. Limitations ----------- Running 640x480 16 Color will run SUPERVGA.DRV or VGA.DRV. No Voodoo3 features will be used. Switch to a different resolution or color depth. Full windowed hardware acceleration with this version of the drivers is only possible when running at 16bpp modes. Troubleshooting --------------- Problem: After installing the card, the system still detects my old card even though it is no longer in the system.
