Daytonas run at 143Mhz default. They don't need any coolig due to the low frequency and the smaller process. I really suggest booting with another video card, and to see if the card is alive. If it isn't, then don't even try capacitors, coolers, etc. You could try to contact Hank and see if he is willing to take a look at it.

About the cooling :

Although (technically) they 'should' run without any cooling, it shows from your picture (and all other Voodoo4-2 4200 cards) that a passive Cooler was mounted.

I'd take the precaution and give the GPU a passive Cooler, better safe than sorry Smiley

(mine never became 'hot' during testing, but I don't know what peak GPU temp it would have reached without the passive cooler)

A good address (if he has the time to spare) would be Hank Semenec, in case the card does not work at all. He has fixed alot of prototypes so far...

Congrats on waking the card up. Try latest reference drivers, and if you are using it, you should add a heatsink, as Falconfly allready said.

Hank indicated the Daytona is safe at 143 mhz with no heatsink or active cooling.

It would be prudent to be of the safe side tho.

I'd Say give AmigaMerlin 3.1 R11 a go they worked partually with my 5000 AGP 2D was perfect and 3D worked on in single chip, you could also give Win98SE a shot with the latest Official 3dfx WHQL drivers I'm sure that 3D would do alot better.

But as you see another board was the sollution I knew that that was the case since your problem was rather simillair to mine Wink

Nice work Exxe Wink The Force Is With You Again!

Boys and girls I'm proud to present you my new 103 items 3Dfx card listing, With an APAC - VD110P 6MB rush card counting as my 100th wonderful piece of hardware in my collection.  8)
(note.. I still have 2 banshees unidentified but thats because I got the packet 3hours ago, I'm expecting to add them in a week or so)
At this point... I see no reason to stop collecting, but I think I will only lower the tempo and wont be running around auction sites every week Smiley also I'm considering to start dropping an eye on the "big stuff" but still I'm in no rush. Everything at its time.

little note to falconfly... update! Tongue there's GAI to add and we also passed 1800cards by now Wink

yeah you have a 5000 AGP and PCI, unless you have a second 5000 AGP or you got mixed up hehe Smiley

there are about 10 Voodoo5 5000's around in total I reckon.

here the 10 people I know that have a Voodoo5 5000:

3dfx Voodoo5 5000 PCI 32MB Rev.A0 4899 --> Osckhar
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 PCI 32MB Rev.A1 0900 --> Edmundoab
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 PCI 32MB Rev.A1 0900 --> G.Donovan Smiley
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 PCI 32MB Rev.A1 0900 --> Dead Eye from VA

3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 --> Osckhar
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 --> G.Donovan
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 --> Nightbird aka Patience
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 --> Rolo01
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 --> Torch
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 --> Obi-Wan Kenobi heh me Smiley

So As far as I know Oscar and you Gary are the only two around I know that have both AGP and PCI models.

Maybe there is an AGP x2 model of the Voodoo5 5000 AGP also one with a AGP x2 connector is there any resemblance of that model as well?
