Problem with Direct X

i do not really know for sure that this is a dx problem but i got a voodoo 5 5500 and this thing is nasty well the problem is i try to play games and this piece of trash is not capable of running them well for example "gunbound".  i know that card has the capabilites of running these games fine but i do not know how i can change these setting if its possible because like i said i know that the cards fast enough.

Any help is appreciated sorry i didnt use the right terms or anything.
