Title: Uprising, 3DFX patch?
Post by RaptorZX3 on 19.12.13 at 22:52:16
i found Uprising in a thrift store recently, i installed it on my P200MMX computer, which have a Rage2 + Voodoo2 8mb on it, but it doesn't detect the V2 card.

Is there a way to patch the game to run in 3DFX mode? Or i really need the "3DFX version" to play with my V2?

It looks like Version 1.05 was the final version via patches.  You can get the Version 1.05 patch here:

http://gamesurf.tiscali.it/download/uprising-_c5671.html

Even after patching, you may still be disappointed in the result.  Cyclone provided support for Voodoo 1 and Voodoo Rush through the patches, but that's as far as it goes.  Check out the Uprising site courtesy of the Wayback Machine ( http://archive.org/ ):

If environment variable fakeout doesn't work, keep in mind that nGlide supposedly supports Uprising in the latest version.

so i would really have to use a V1 and the game isn't compatible with V2?

If applying the Version 1.05 patch doesn't work, then you might consider trying to trick the application into thinking your Voodoo 2 is a Voodoo 1 by setting certain environment variables in autoexec.bat.  Sometimes this approach works, and sometimes it doesn't.  Mirage111 was trying to use this approach to get Digital Integration's Apache to work with his Voodoo 3.  See this thread for ideas on how to do this:

There's no way to know if the Version 1.05 patch will work without trying it on a Voodoo 2 (or later Voodoo card) since Uprising patch development ceased before Voodoo 2 and later Voodoo cards became available.

while i could use my Pentium 100Mhz by adding my V1 in it, i would still need a PS/2 mouse bracket because my serial PCI card really suck for it and i think i don't have a serial-compatible mouse anymore.

I'm having the same exact issue - I could play the game on a Voodoo 1 but it's SLOW... Has anyone gotten it to work on a V2? What about a V3 or V4?

P.S. My first post here woohoo!
