??? Hi all,Can someone please help me with this problem.My system is win98 se,I have just installed the driver :fastvoodoo3.0,all was ok till I tested the direct 3d with the "dxdiag" all tests failed.eg:test failed at step 46(GETCD)Hresult=0x887602249(cant create DC).I tried many games but nothing runs?I have directx 9 installed,is this the problem???Advice please.THX

No. 1: - post your full system specs (will help others to help you solve the problem). Roll Eyes

No. 2: - If your PC is an Athlon, use only Athlon hacked drivers! Roll Eyes

Would be also good to know, if the normal Reference (or any other) Drivers resulted in the same problem ?

OK, Tongue System is as follows  500 meg-AMD K6-2 w/3DNOW!,The mother board is a PCCHIPS M598LMR 1.0 - Bus clock 100 megahertz.

I have tried other drivers but I get the same result Sad.Also when I check my card for drivers it states"no driver installed or this device does not require a driver? Even though windows has just installed one-eg -FASTVOODOO 3.0. Shocked Just what is happening ???. Is it me or the computer Undecided All said and done V.G Cry

I'd recommend using the 3dfx V3.02.02 Reference Driver first...

That should work without problems on your Voodoo2.

Did you ever have another 3dfx card installed (Voodoo1 for example) ?
In case you had, this Driver has to be completely removed, and the Registry cleaned of any 3dfx entries, before a new Driver can safely be installed.

Otherwise (if nothing seems to work), try changing PCI Slots for the Voodoo2. As it doesn't require an IRQ, it is very flexible, and sometimes PCI Slots tend to get old/cease functioning....

Last try would be to give the Voodoo2 to someone else, to test it in another machine.

To exclude the possibility of a Windows Driver Incompatibility you could try a Dos Game/Game-Demo (at the moment i only remember carmageddon but this needs a patch for voodooČ, it works in software mode in standard installation) in real dos-mode. If this works then the problem must be driver related.

...nearly forgot. You don't have one of the buggy S3 graphic cards which need a special patch?...

Thanks for your help but no joy again! the driver went in ok but all the tests still fail?.This card was pulled from a working pc and was ok then.I tried a different pci slot but still no good.But when I look at the driver for the card it still states no driver installed?even though it went in ok....Could it be the directX 9.0 causing these problems.The card is 3dfx interactive inc,.Should I give up!!!! Cheers

Hi,I am pretty new to computers and do not where to start to try this game in DOS,..

First you need to download a dos program that supports the voodoo2 (maybe someone can tell us a small one (a short demo from the sdk that shows the spinning 3dfx logo) so you don't have to download one of the big game-demos. Install it in a directory (create a name shorter than 8 characters with your explorer) on C:\. Now press start, quit and ms-dos-mode. Now type CD \DIRNAME and press enter. After that type PROGRAM.EXE (for example) and press enter. If you see the 3dfx-logo than your Voodoo2 works.
