Gah, I pasted the wrong link.

That's better. ;-) The article is quite old, though.

Kewl, that link works!

I'll re-post the info HERE, just in case it ever gets lost...

Also (before I begin the re-post) in the thread is THIS mirror: -

http://web.archive.org/web/20010302010217/www.wicked3d.com/

YES, it's a mirror of Wicked3D!

(Yeah, I KNOW the link is also in the quote below!)

O.K., now the re-post...

Anyone with a voodoo3 try this!
This is from a user in Singapore. I'll post his instructions here for easy reading for you guys.

O.K., this will make your speed and image quality increase.

First uninstall your current driver.

Do a clean uninstall:

1.) Right click on desktop and go to properties

2.) Go to settings, then advanced, then adaptor and hit change

3.) Select Standard display types then Standard Display Adaptor (VGA)

4.) Reboot

5.) Goto control panel, click add/remove programs, chose 3dfx tools from the list of uninstallers and remove it. Reboot.

6.) Now back at Windows, it's best at this point to search the hard drive for voodoo*.*, glide*.* and 3dfx*.* and delete any of these files

after doing these, go to

http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo3.htm

and d/l the VOODOO3 BETA DRIVER (1.05.02).

Then d/l the latest BETA v5 driver from

http://www.falconfly.de/vsa100.htm

and unzip the v5 driver wif winzip. There are 2 versions there, one of them is the 10/13 leaked driver and another is the via enhanced driver.

Now install your voodoo3 beta driver. After that, reboot.

Now right click desktop, click settings, click advance, click adaptors, click change.

Click display a list of 'blah blah blah'. Now click on have disk. Browse to the directory which your v5 driver is unzipped to. e.g. you unzipped to c:\v5.

It will choose a .inf file. A pop up will appear with various cards for you to chose from.

Choose 3dfx voodoo 5. Click next. A pop up will appear saying its not the correct driver.

Click yes to continue the installation. Now after its done it will ask for a reboot. So Reboot. Now check your system properties (right click my computer) and under display adaptors....

VOILA! 3dfx voodoo 5. now go to

http://web.archive.org/web/20010302140333/http://www.wicked3d.com/ and d/l wickedgl.

It will boost your performance more!

I also cleaned up the original instructions to make them more legible...

EDIT: Removed the 'old' links and 'linked' to the archive instead...MUCH better!

Ehm...

No need to go though archive.org ...
All mentioned Drivers are available in the Archive (?)

Also, the Link to the Archived 3dchipset.com opens a P0rn Site ::)

I'd say, this "trick" won't improve performance, but will rather lead to incompatibilities. (it's not unknown that a lot of VSA-100 Drivers still work to some extend on a Voodoo3, but this is not really useful)
