Not sure exactly who all made this card, but the CD is Aopen Cobra Sound Card, but in my device manager on XP, it's listed as a CMI8738/C3DX , driver date 13/06/2002, version 5.12.1.638. Only one that matches perfectly on download.com is same CMI8738/C3DX, but version 5.12.1.644. What's the diff? Would it be any better? Anyone know where to get a exact driver that's newer than that?

You might find this useful

AOpen page, in case this isnt exactly the model you have
you might want to go to the main downloads page and find the exact card in question

Also I didn't notice aopen mentioning it on their page the chipset is by cmedia
but they prefer giving it a phony aopen chipset name and put a sticker over it

Just a bit of looking around, I have no such card or chipset
so I cannot tell if these are any good, they just appear to be the latest.

Thanks for those leads; I'll check them out later today or tonight when I get a chance, I have to get ready for work soon. I think the AW850 driver contains all the drivers for the card, not just the main driver, which is better, plus it matches my cd, my original driver cd works for the AW840 or the AW850, so I think this will work fine too, thanks. To be safe though I will set a restore point before i install it, just in case.
