E3 2010: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit is back!

Electronics Arts revealed a remake of
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit
at E3 2010. The game will be released halfway through November later this year. The Game is made by Criterion Studios which is better known for the title
Burnout Paradise
. That game it's influence is clearly visible; racing is not done on seperate tracks but in a massive map. Another thing from that game that can be found in
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit
are power-ups. Offcourse, the player can play as either the cops or the perpetrator.
Whee, I know what I'm gonna be spending cash on in November

Yeah, the first short video looks really nice. The new NfS will hopefully again an arcade racing game without all this tuning junk and beautiful, expensive cars.

Absolutely brilliant. The last proper police car rush I had was with Most Wanted, but still I think NFS III was the best.

Well I am either getting too old or too ignorant - but I dont remember any cool hot pursuit games apart from the two you just mentioned. Was there anything else in market anyway?
Please dont include Test Drive - it's just not *it*

Ehrm, I think there were more NFS games that had police in it. You had the original Need for Speed, High Stakes, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, Porsche Unleashed (or Porsche 2000) had police in it, and then the rubbish NFS Carbon, and the recent NFS Undercover. They all had police in it I remember.
That's the Need for Speed games atleast. From those I think the afore mentioned in my post were the best Police persuit thrills.

I didn't mind the cops in Carbon, though I really didn't play it much, being that it was my brother's game, at his house and he lives like 30 miles from here. But the main thing I liked was being able to reall bash the crap out of the cop cars while trying to make your escape, and using the police's own PIT maneuver against them to spin them into other cop cars, or obstacles.

Hmm... I admit I havent played Porsche that much (the one and only non-arcade NFS) but I honestly dont remember any cops there
Anyway - I totally agree with you. Now that I think of it, there were in fact some cops in the games you mentioned but either badly implemented (NFS:HS2) or insignificant (others). Oh well, fingers crossed for the new NFS

I'm not 100% sure if the cops in Porsche 2000 were in the "campaign", they were definitely in the bit that you can work for Porsche, delivering cars and doing other things for them.
