Yep and I figured that since I'll have a X850 Pro and a X800GTO up for sale once I get this installed, I'll be sitting pretty good.

I'm not moving to Vista anytime soon, and after looking at the price for the OS itself, I'll probably be better off just getting a preconfigured machine from Cyber Power or Monarch or somewhere else anyway. It's almost getting to the point where it's cheaper to go that route and upgrade periodically then flat out build your own pc.

Sooo with sticking with XP and no DX 10 support in sight, I don't see the need for a whole new system just to go with Vista and DX 10 video card.

So my AMD 3200+ might become a bottle neck now but with this card, the two gig of ram that's already in the system, I should be set for another year or two for sure. By that time who know's?

does that newegg company ship in EU also?

Well once I get it, the only way of testing X4 support is setting it at X4 in the bios as I have no X4 only mobo with a power supply that will handle this beast. Both of my machines that could support this thing are both 4/8 support agp. Just letting you know before hand, it's about the only way to test it.

HAHAHAHAHAH It's here and installed!!!!  This card is HUGE. Got a question though, card is up and running, how ever I have a question about power.

When I bought the X850 Pro,  I had power issues, went out and bought a 500 watt power supply. I hope I can describe this right so bare with me. I checked Sapphires website and can't find how it's actually supposed to be wired. I just spend 250 on this thing with shipping and the last thing I wan't to do is blow it up. Anyway, if your Power supply has enough Amps on that Line, it should still work fine.

The main consideration not to use Y-Connectors on modern Video cards is simply, that the Wires going from the PSU into the connector(s) are not rated for such high Power Demands on a single Line.

The single cable now having to support the whole Card's Power consumption may actually become warm and start carrying a power level seriously harmful to human health when accidentally touched.
The Isolation and connectors were never designed to supply that much power, so they recommend to split the load among two separate Cables (I would seriously recommend doing so).
If you look at very old AT power supplies from 1990 and compare the Lines and the 5.25" Connectors (which were tasked to power 5.25" Disk Drives and 100MB Harddrives) to the ones we still use, you will see it... They are still the same design - only they now power >100W Video Cards and alike.

As normal PSU's only have protective circuits for the 3.3/5/12V Lines as a whole, they usually cannot detect overload on an individual 12V Cable for as long as the total Amperage on the 12V line is within limits.

well Jandarsun8 you can use that Y-Splitter cable with no problems ,really that is how I connected the Voodoo5 5500 PCI with a Harddrive on one Y-Splitter with no problems:

The CrossFire Set uses their sepperate 6 pinned connectors from the PSU since I had no other choice for them, but since that power is power it shouldn't matter.

Hmm a little strange about that pad on the back of your X1950 Pro AGP 512MB:

what would be it's purpose for it to be place there? Since the back of the VPU is place alot higher :-/ Or would that be for the Ralito PCI-E to AGP converter chip, like here seen on an ATi X850 XT PE AGP:

But that harddrive and the 3dfx card don't use up as much juice as the X1950Pro does. So still be careful when attaching the Y-splitter. If you use the Y-splitter make sure you don't have any other device on that cable. Use the other cables for the rest of the hardware. Just to make sure.

Indeed, it's the bridge. Many newer ATi Radeon AGP boards have PCI-e chips. The pad around the bridge is used for protection. The bridge itself looks like an AMD Athlon or Intel Pentium III. In other words: Quite fragile :).

hmm they could of at least protect it with a flat alu heat sink, that way it be be protected in the best way, Imean it would at least be a more sfaer way than just that pad, looks cheap this way, you would expect a better sollution since you pay lots of money for it!  >:(

A heatsink would be more expensive and when installing a heatsink the pad would be neccesary too. (even more costs :P) The pad provides more then enough protection as since the corners of the chip are pretty fragile. The center of the chip can handle very much pressure.

About costs: The heatsink might add a few dollars to the final price. This is too much since the market of graphic cards is very competitive. Remember the older Seagate (older series of the Barracuda's for example) with the so called 'Sea-shield'?. A metal plate on the bottom of the drive to protect the hardware/electronics. That shield has been removed to save costs since the market of harddrives is very competitive too. That metal plate would have the price of one dollar? Maybe less and still it's removed to save costs :).
