Title: PCI Latency tool..... Post by jandarsun8 on 29.11.06 at 22:20:58
I found this after being bored out of my skull at work and I'm wondering if this really would make a difference at all. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951
I read the post on it, and it looks like it might but then again........ I sent the link to my house and I'll install it when I get home to see but thought I'd ask what you guys thought. I've also got to ask, who comes up with programs like this anyway? Just sitting around the house one day going "I need to make my machine run faster, I know!! Let's change the PCI Latency and see what it does!" hehehe I'm just curious on this. :P I'm not that technically advanced to think of something like this to change so..... |

Be careful! :o
Messing with PCI latency can cause peculier issues... :P |

IMHO this tool might come in handy for Systems with very restrictive BIOS'es (no Options) and special PCI Hardware (e.g. that requires higher Latencies in order to work peacefully along other PCI Devices)

But it will hardly be able to do any speed-ups. PCI latency is a "stability tweak" and not "overclocking tweak" ;)

That's cool, that's why I was asking about it because I've never messed around with it before, still haven't. It's something I was just curious about.

Yeah, its setting is better left alone when the system works fine.

i think some people used it on halflife 2 and some other intensive games to balance out the video and sound performance.
i used to use it on rome total war to smooth things out a bit worked well , but do some research on latency setting first before using it |

Snap - I've actually used this before because of problems with sound stuttering, which were fixed by changing the latency on the graphics card (though 64 is a bit drastic, nothing wrong with 128). If you're having problems then it can be useful, but if you're not then probably best left alone.
