Nah, it's just a bit of an old warhorse...

Well since the 4500 AGP arrived today I thought that I would puzzle around a little with all of my 3dfx boxes and make something 3dfx crative instead!
So here is what came up to my mind, Click to enlarge if you like 8) :
What you do is take the 4500 AGP box as the center point, around that or from that you can see that I have crated a 3dfx Napalm Cross which is surrounded by 4 Avenger boxes 8)
Below the 4500 AGP box you can also use the 5500 PCI MAC as center point, if you would draw a line from it's conerpoints it connects perfectly with another 3dfx Napalm box thus also resulting in to a 3dfx Napalm X
The AMD Green Arrow Floor Mod was the perfect spot to do my 3dfx Box Art
since AMD wasa reccomended CPU brand for 3dfx cards

Since when? Since some 3dfx drivers (I thought the latest 3dfx Reference drivers) didn't run correctly with an AMD K6 and AMD K6/2?
I don't think "AMD" would be the best for 3dfx cards. For compatibility with every driver the Intel CPU (and
not
motherboard) (and maybe Cyrix too) would probably be better.
Though the latest (non-3dfx) drivers run good on AMD CPU's too.

uhm the best CPU for 3dfx cards is still the AMD Athlon as AMD AthlonXP
an AthlonXP Barton 3000+ on a good VIA KT333 based Motherboard is still the fastest and most stable setup for a 3dfx AGP card so then again AMD get's the award for best 3dfx CPU for 3dfx AGP cards
But yes the Pentium3 was very rock solid of it's time true there
My Pentium3 E 650Mhz on EPoX EP-BX3 rocked with Voodoo3 3500 TV AGP w00t, it never crashed really it never did
What I meant was the time of the Voodoo4 & 5 where as the Pentium4 was really alot slower in most cases for Voodoo4 AGP as Voodoo5 AGP setups than AthlonXP combined with VIA Apollo KT333 and PC2700 DDR333 memory which mostly had the best timings as results especially with a Voodoo 5 6000 AGP card.
but yeaps you are right with the K6-2 as K6-3 Intel was the best choice for 3dfx cards

Ah, yes. For the latest cards with the latest drivers the systems based on AMD CPU's run very well indeed. (performance wise).
I was more aiming at "back then" (When the cards we're new and the world was flat). Not all 3dfx drivers ran perfect on a system with an AMD CPU. Systems with an AMD K6 and a Voodoo Grahpics card could run perfect...with the correct driver

heh ever ran a Voodoo5 6000 in a Pentium3 650 on a BX3 mobo, that was terrible
some mobo's ran okay but some others were shamefull the AthlonXP age was the best for Voodoo 4 as 5 performance as stabillity wise espeacially for Voodoo5 6000 setups
