Counter question: why would you want to? The CMOS is the SRAM where the settings of the BIOS are stored. There is no way any update or upgrade would make any difference whatsoever in functions or compatibility of the mainboard.

Yeah, I suppose yo are right.  No problem though, I realized that it was a stupider question than I thought, so let's just consider this question asked answered and done.  thx though.
