Title: A good 3Dfx Voodoo2 tribute Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 27.06.07 at 04:21:10
heh here a very tributional clip of a man talking about the 3Dfx Voodoo2 and how it should be remembered :)
"Stop and remember the roots, the 3Dfx ... the 3Dfx Voodoo2, because it was cool 8) " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqPvYNB7Uw8&NR=1 just how he compared HL2 to Q2 with the checkerboard style that is how things really were then 3dfx came and that indeedly changed our way of computing. so here my favourite Voodoo2 setup the Diamind 1998 Promotional set with stock TenMax Stealth Coolers :) click to enlarge :) |

hehe yeah remember when they came out heh a SLI set of 2 8MB cards was about 1200 dutch guilders and 2 12MB cards was about 1400 dutch guilders heh that about 544.54 EUR for the 2 8MB cards and 635.29 EUR for the 2 12MB ones argh!
but then for that money you had about the best there was well ofcourse there were the Quantum3D Obsidian2 X16 as X24 setups but they were more solid and expensive designs never knew how much they were never seen a Q3D V2 in a PC store yet I know that GrandAdmiralThrawn did he bought a sealed X24 when it just hit the market heh that must of been so damn nice! |

I just WISH I could get my hands on a "Witchdoctor" setup... ::)

hmm I prefer a Quantum3D Mercury or Iron setup they are much better but their price tags were something like uhm 15K a 25K USD hehe anywhere in that range and with the Merc as Iron's you had FSAA x4 as Motion Blur as some nice extra's :)
The Merc's are the fastest as the best V2 setups out there and they also have very sharp FSAA at low reso's like 512 x 384 as 640 x 480 from reso's 800 x 600 and beyond the Voodoo5 6000 had the upperhand with FSAA x8 but the FSAA x4 on the Merc is the best seen allround like Gamma742 explained that else where. |

Well EVERYONE would 'like' to own a Merc. - it's just finding one that's WORKING which is the hard thing...not to mention the CA$H involved! :o
I was thinking realistically with Witchdoctor. ;) Quote:
They pop-up on eBay occasionally...usually attached to a V2 as well... :) |

heh yeah true 'bout the Merc as the Which Doctor setup hehe only I still prefer my Diamond Multimedia 1998 Promotion set the only of the 3 sets exsisting with stock Tenmax Stealth coolers, they were placed on the cards for the fun of it heh! 8) Eye-Q as gdonovan have the other two remaining sets hehe, nice sets guys! ;D |
