Need help with my Voodoo2 SLI
02.11.06 at 19:52:15
Hi there I'm new here. I joined because I need some some solutions to my problem.
I got two techworks power 3d 2 voodoo2 graphics cards. I'm not sure are they same type but I think they both are 12mb
so I made sli cable by myself. but I cant get them working. The win 98 works normaly at the desktop. if I use some 3d programs or voodoo2 setup at display gonfigurationpanel. the program freese but not crash win98.
the other one v2 work alone, but with the other win98 and 3d programs (ex 3dmark99max) starts normally but the graphics are awful.
So what should I do
PS. the alone working V2 worked only in the first pci slot could problem be in motherboard. the MoBo is MSI MS-6117
PSS: sorry my english I'm from Finland

Hmm...seems you have some problems...
1. It doesn't matter if the two V2 cards are identical - although you are correct that is is better. V2 cards can be SLI configuration with different V2 cards using 'mismatch' drivers such as "FastVoodoo2".
Quote:
the other starts normally but the graphics are awful
2. One of your cards seems faulty - test the card in another mainboard, if it still won't work then replace the card before you try and SLI.
Quote:
the alone working V2 worked only in the first pci slot
3. Seems your mainboard does not like Voodoo 2 cards, except in PCI slot 1 for some reason? ???
4. Be sure your SLI cable is as short as possible (the distance between two V2 cards in adjacent PCI slots).

Ok I maybe get a new motherboard soon, maybe even with 2*CPU slots
, I should try with it then. What drivers should I use. It needs to be fit all V2 cards.

"FastVoodoo2" drivers are the best.
Go to: -
http://www.3dfxzone.it
Look at the left menu and scroll down and click on "Voodoo 2".
On the new page click on "Drivers"
Then choose your operating system and it will give you the appropriate link for the best version of "FastVoodoo2"
Good luck! 8)

ok I tried the non working V2 alone again with the same motherboard. and used 3dfx Voodoo2 V3.02.02 again, in screen setup i clicked voodoo2 settings, and it gave me this: " _GlideInitEnviroment: glide2x.dll expected voodoo^2, none detected " seems to be that my V2 card is broken??
I'll wait the other motherboard and try fastvoodoo2 drivers. or is there anything to do?
I bought this V2 from finnish ebay-like netsite and the seller didn't tell that he won't sure does it work or not
or could I have broke the card, cuz in that day temperature was below zero outside, and the was arrived in the morning and I picked mail after 8pm and I waited ½-1hour that card would get warmed. Should I have waited more time?

Your card is toast!
Broken, history, totalled!
It's nothing to do with the cold, as half an hour is more than enough to get rid of any condensation!
Looks like the card was broken to begin with...

Sorry man - but it does happen from time to time!
I've also bought some things on eBay and had them turn up D.O.A.
I feel the pain...trust me!
