Like we all know there are the Voodoo3 group names:
Voodoo3 1000 AGP
Voodoo3 2000 AGP/PCI
Voodoo3 3000 AGP/PCI
Voodoo3 3500
Were the group names Voodoo3 1500 and 2500 also planned?
If so, why were they left out and why not call the Voodoo3 3500 a Voodoo3 4000?
Not trying to get on the well known story and myth about the Voodoo3 4000 back, but just wondered about the group names and how they got their places.

I can only speculate, but....
Maybe they weren't sure if they could ramp up final production to 183MHz levels, so a 166MHz clocked and TV Tuner equipped Voodoo3 3000 could have turned out as a marketing problem if called "Voodoo3 4000". Voodoo3 3500 would have been more appropriate.
Another theory would be, that they (having - the already delayed - Napalm in mind at this time) had the 4xxx series planned to be filled with the VSA Boards.

I wish I knew someone in marketing to ask these questions
Some old interoffice e-mails or memos could really shine some light on the subject.

yeah that would be very greatfull Gary
there are so many questions yet to be answered, I hope that missing info will pop up one day
But then again ike FalconFly said the delayment of Napalm might of been the cause for the V3 4K not to have come, and that 3dfx kept the 4.xx series for thier Napalm & Daytona series aka the Voodoo4 and Voodoo4-2 line
Maybe 3dfx-God might know, Hay Hank
do you have any of these letters of memo's
just be'n curious here mate

Something to consider- The "4000" series might have been intended for the VSA-101 chipsets.
As proof I remind people of the Falcon Northwest V3-3500 SE.
The V3-4000 was floated by some marketing people in one article in an attempt to deflect V3 weaknesses, but the specs mentioned fit napalm.

ah nice
well shame that the Voodoo4 was late also, also wierd that the Voodoo5 kame earlier than the Voodoo5 for few, but understandable on the other hand, to launch thier fastest stable card out to pay off debts.
