Voodoo1/2 D3D/OGL/Glide drivers for Win9x/2k/XP
12.03.04 at 01:35:04

Hi there, everybody! I'm new around here. I've already been reading lots of posts (including that Banshee über-talk Wink), but I couldn't find answer for a very specific question:

Are there any new(*) drivers for Voodoo1 and Voodoo2-based 3D accelerators? If so, do they support Direct3D and/or OpenGL? If not, is support for these APIs planned? (I don't care when, I don't mind waiting... Wink)

I'm asking this mainly because I have two Voodoo2 cards and one Voodoo Graphics card lying around ever since I installed WinXP...Undecided I just wish I had more programming knowledge/experience (still limited to 8051 assembly and C++ Grin) and 3D background to help you (I'll get there, eventually... I'm studying a quaternion library from a friend of mine... Wink)

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find the information searching the message board. Thank you very much in advance! Smiley

(*) By "new", I mean open-source, written from scratch or based on original 3Dfx source code, not the improvised hacks from last official beta/stable 3Dfx drivers.

Well, all the existing Driver Packages (3rd Party) are based on .inf Mods.

The latest ones (FastVoodoo2) do contain updated Glide Files, though.

New Cores (by your definition) existing to date :
Glide2x V2604 (Koolsmoky)
Glide3x V2610 (Koolsmoky)

GlideXP V1016 (Colourless)

Glide3x V3.10.00.30303 (SourceForge Glide Developer Team)

Not yet included in a Package is MesaFX (OpenGL), done by D.Borca, which is based on the SourceForge Mesa Development, but a special Port for 3dfx.

So technically, Glide and OpenGL is covered by new Drivers; only the DirectX part for Voodoo1/2 has been untouched so far...
