Hello,

I have a very weird problem with a voodoo graphics 1 in an AMD K6-2 300 PC running Win 98 SE. The graphics card is a 2 MB S3 Virge DX.

The voodoo was running great until I decided to install a few new 3Dfx games bought on auction sites, that required a newer version of drivers [...installed 1.12... expected 1.14...]
So after downloading the latest version of internet, I reinstalled them and wanted to test out SOTE...
What followed is pure horror ;) The computer seems to hang with a black screen just after changing resolution to 640x480 BEFORE the 3dfx logo is displayed.  Isearched the whole disk and checked/removed every file from the drivers package as well as reinstalled and removed and once more reinstalled other or older working before drivers with complete removal of files and registry entries... and still I get only a black screen. What is insteresting is that after downloading a few 3dfx demos to test  the card, I can only manage to get any given demo running once, (but still cant start any game [!]),  because afterwards the demo reports 'cant open win' ie Glide is busy ?!


Any ideas ? :)

What V1 card do you have?
