Unfortunately the last one I picked up from this seller was defective
The seller agreed to refund
Yeah, that sucks hardcore, especially when I might be in the same boat.
What's even worse is having no way to test it or even use it. I will be having this for a display piece for a bit... probably will just end up selling it. ("as is" unfourtunately)

Good to hear all is ok with your 8464DB!
Now I have a question regarding my AA5 setup. Will this PSU work? It appears to have all the right cables/connectors, but the specs are a bit different...
(the +2.9V supplies 75w, so thats good.)

I can't see all the connectors but your gonna need some that look like the black one with the black & white cables attached.

Ok, to my knowledge it's just these three sets of cables that connect to the power board.. it appears to have all of them. (crosses fingers)

Ok, good news is all the connectors needed are there and fit like a dream.
Is there any secret to using this powersupply? Or is it just like any other but with a few different connectors? I tried briefly to power up a system with it but nothing happened. I even jumped pins 4&6 on the psu and still no go. I might have bought a dead psu... ideas?

I don't know much about AAlchemy setups. But make sure your powersupply works first by jumpstarting it. Bridge the Green and a Black to boot the PSU, but have a couple of fans plugged in so there is some load, some PSUs don't start up without any load.

Well, if it's the same type of power supply used in the AAlchemy workstations, it should work. I can't tell who the manufacturer is since it appears as though the label has been blurred out for some weird reason
, but it appears to match mine. My AAlchemy workstation is in storage right now, but I seem to recall that it has a special switch that has to be used to power it up. Does the power supply have any other non-standard connectors other than the AA5 plugs?

Thanks to Oscar on the V6K Team forum, it is starting to come clear what needs to be done to power that b!tch up.

Sweet, sounds like you are set. The power supply acts much like that found in older, pre-ATX form factor PCs (commonly known as "AT" or "Baby AT"). I seem to recall that when you shut down Windows, the power supply keeps running unless you flip off the switch. I hope to have my out of storage this weekend...after the I finish the major remodel on my house.

That's correct.. When I do a Win2000 shutdown, it tells me that it's safe to power off. Then I flip the power switch to the OFF position. I hope the Power Supply is good

Well, I hooked up the switch and hooked it all up and the PSU powers on!
I was unable to get video however... Do I need a main vga card? (agp)
I then tested a normal PSU and AGP card with the mobo and was still unable to get video... so something else might have been wrong. (nothing a little troubleshooting cant fix)
Lastley, the PSU will not power up if the AA5 cards are not hooked up, I am guessing this is normal...
Are there any other tricks that I need to do to make these cards boot properly?
Oh, one more thing. I looked at the box that the PSU came in and through a sticker I saw a symbol.. and it was this:

The AA5 only outputs 3D, so you will need a 2D card in the system as well. I use a geforce 4 series card (w/DVI) in mine. I also use a monitor that has both D-sub and DVI inputs so I can just switch the input mode on the monitor.
It sounds like you have an issue with your test mobo/CPU. Dumb question, did you also short the "power on" header pins on the mobo after flipping the PSU switch? If so, then it sounds like you need to work out the kinks with your test system first before troubleshooting the AA5 and power supply.
I got mine working on a Pentium 4 setup, but I had to use a molex to CPU 4 pin adapter to get things working right. Make sure you don't need something similar for whatever mobo/CPU combo your working with.
The PSU came in a box....interesting. Where did you find it and was it actually brand new?

Ah, I had a long day when I tried booting up the system and must not have been thinking properly... of course it needs a 2D card
As per your advise I will definately get the test system up and running prior to slapping in the AA5. ( I did flip the switch and bridge the pins to power it up)
I have an old Tyan Dual P3 933mhz Slot1 system laying around that I will try next.
I actually saw this PSU while browsing google for computer salvage PSU's. (if quick_elist can sell all the vcards, someone has to has the PSU's) It came in two boxes.. a bigger shipping one and then what appears to be the that is originally came in. To my knowledge TK Power made the AA5 PSU's and had a very similar logo to which is on the box.
I should probably get back to work.. but I will keep you all updated with what happens..
