Thanks,

I have a PowerColor EvilKing3. My first 3dfx card.

I'll have a look at the memory modules.

My voodoo5 is a Rev A 2300  with Hyundaï RAM. still 6ns but I heard it's good memory, so I wonder if I could get to, say 180mhz w/o any additional cooling (I never o/ced a vid card and I don't want  to do any harm to my voodoo  Tongue Grin)

Very odd that you can only hit 190MHz, 5ns ram is 200MHz stock (1000/5=200MHz). But then again, there is the issue with only OCing the first chip, which all Voodoo 5 overclockers should be aware of. Also, the stock cooling of a V5 frankly sucks, that could have been your issue. But two V5s with 5ns ram??  Shocked You are lucky.

Yep, it's great that they figured that out, it certainly explains a lot of things. But I was referring to his OC with his previous card, which would have been affected by this problem.

Well in fact it explains "not a fat lot". Wink

Personally I'm not jumping around and rejoicing because a patch for a program I don't use and don't want to use has been put out.  I'd rather have seen a post in a topic with the methodology or source behind this so that everyone can benefit not just binaries that reveal precisely nothing.

Not having a go at anyone here, this is good news, but would have been nice to see nonetheless. Smiley

ok i use powerstrip, now are you saying even with powerstrip im only getting one overclocked, and i think the reason the first card only would do 190 to 195 could have been many factors, but not stock cooling because both my voodoo 5's and 4 have after market cooling on them, but really ill have to read the post on this overclockin issue of just one chip ???

So it is the pllCtrl1 core clock register? We've already done this weeks ago by editing and reflashing the BIOS.  (see VoodooFiles.net) I'd like to see a simple .exe that does this independent of any other software distribution.  For all users.  And I'm sure koolsmoky is the man to do it! 8)

Good news! Grin

Later. Wink

Edit: Oh and forget powerstrip it has the same effect as the Grxclock Dword regtweak value.

Thanks but I know where the board is as I'm a member and I was participating in the topic.  I've been there and posted a response.  Thanks for the link anyway.

Later. 8)
