Just look at the new members, they are going up very fast. just go on the last pages of new members... nearly all of them are from a register-bot!
its just a suggestion but i am almost sure! |

Yeah, it's automated Spam-Bots that manage to Register, but cannot post.
They've done so for more than a year, but activities notably increased around 3 months ago. I'll look into upgrading the Forum around new year, that should make managing (and banning) these Bots more easy. Spam-Bots have been quite successful in other unmoderated/managed by inexperienced Admin Forums, I guess that's why the Spammers got so much into them. |

Can't you implement one of those things where you have to enter a code as seen on an image in order to be able to register?

I believe the acronym you are looking for is "CAPTCHA."

Yes, but that would require deep modifications to this old YaBB Board Version.
I'll implement a comparable function when the Board is up-to-date and I have access to all current Board Modifications needed to solve the problem. |
