I bought something on eBay and the cheapest shipping options is "Deutsche Post Brief".

What exactly is this? Will the item be shipped as a package if I choose this?

The seller and google translate aren't really helpful.

It is the same as regular letter. Yes, a package can be shipped this way as 2kg and the standard dimensions is valid. No tracking though, but it is very cheap. I've not had any problems with it so far and I ask the seller to ship this way if the item is below 500grams.
