I love 3dfx and I want the best cooling system for The Voodoo5 6000.

I think it will be the best project never realized on this card.

Materials are in Nateman_doo's home.

He need to finish some others projects before start mine.

- Copper
- Delrin
- Tec's plastic
- Power Supply.

TEC is dangerous because the water droplets can damage my card.  He will take steps to prevent this from happening with the TEC block, but if I am careful I can get a glimpse into what my card is capable of.
4 Peltiers on the front allows for 320W of cooling, and 2 peltiers on the back allows for 160W of cooling for the entire rear of the card.
The single 600W power supply will keep them all operating perfectly.

Just a little math: An AAlchemy needs at least 25A for VSA100 supply voltage of 2,7-2,9V, that's 72Watt at max. Let's say 80Watt. Divided through 8 you get 10Watt per each VSA100.

A V6k with 183MHz is said to pull around 60Watt from external PSU, let's add the max 25Watt from AGP and you got 85Watt for the total card. The card clocked at 200MHz won't need more than 100Watt.

In my opinion the use of peltier elements is pure waste of money and like you noticed yourself there is a high risk.

I think without overvolting the board you are just bumping up against the limits of the VSA-100 chip process.

You are good in maths but I really want to have Peltier blocks on my card even if there is a high risk to damage this one.
I hope all steps and final results will be nice.
About peltier elements, when a card give 100 watts you need to have the double power with tec (200 watts).
Here we have a far greater power and we will see the results.
Perhaps the card will be very well cooled...

The limit of VSA-100 on rev.3700A is 220 MHz.
Perhaps with this system we will reach this max frequency!

I agree. Accordingly to VSA-100 documentation, a Voodoo5 6000 draws 65W and I think this value should refer to the total power consumption. If we assume 25W for the AGP slot, then your calculations about the max power consumptions af a single VSA-100 chip are correct Wink

So actually a Voodoo5 6000 needs even less power than we are used to think.

First to think about to use peltiers, to know the total dissipative power of the liquid system is also needed.

VSA-100 specifications says clearly that VSA-100 is designed to work up to 200MHz. All your tests should all lead you to the same conclusion; regardless of how fast is the graphic memory used, the VSA-100 silicon is limited to that speed. You are on the edge of a technology.

If you don't give more power to the card you won't go very far. Overvolt is the key and here is where liquid cooling really is going to help.

I prefer cool the back of the card.
I've just order usefull tool: Voltcraft Laser IR Gun 650-12D thermometer to measure temperatures of V5 6000 cards (if i can).

Hmmm, interesting ideas. However I think the gains will be minimal, if any, if the VSA's will not be overvolted somehow ...

If you have to ask for help about performing a voltmod, I strongly suggest you rethink your ideas about the mod itself and also your rigged peltier setup. You are not only wasting your time, but also risk damaging a piece of vga history. Like many others have said, the peltier is not going to show the results you are dreaming of as the V6k was not mechanically designed to run anywhere near the 220MHz clock.

The card will be very good protected to have no water droplets on chips.
The risks are very high but without risks you do nothing.
Like my first and second waterblocks, there are a lot of risks like having leaks (water flow on the card) or break a GPU chip (with the pressure of the weight of the blocks) etc...
During the shipment, the card can be break (even if you make a good protection) or lose.
I want the best and I hope the card will not be damaged.
