First of all, congrats on the purchase.  I hope it's a good board that will work once you get everything you need.

I took the plunge and transplanted a Soyo P4S Dragon Ultra motherboard into my Aalchemy 8232 system.  It originally came with a dual P3 1 ghz CPU/MOBO setup, which is too slow for the Aalchemy card.  I'm now running a P4 2.8 ghz in it.  I also went ahead dropped in my Abit Geforce 4 Ti4600 card as the primary video.

It wasn't just a straight up swap.  I had to get extensions for the ATX power, 4-pin CPU power, and front panel LEDs/power button (total cost of $20 from Frys).  I also had to re-arrange the mobo stand-offs.  In the end, I gritted my teeth and flipped the switch.  The dang thing was recognized by W2K (I used a fresh OS install on a spare HD) and I was up and running in no time.

With the more powerful P4 CPU setup, I saw a significant increase in performance in non-AA mode.  I did see a slight improvement with 4X AA, nothing much with 8X AA.  I still need to do more testing so I can compare it with my pre-upgrade benchmarks.

Well, with all this input.. it looks like I have yet another card that is only for looks.  Maybe someday I will come upon the psu.. until then, it will just have sit on display and look pretty.

Thanks for the information guys. Smiley

**Update**:  I just got my 1200 Bruce Chips in the mail today.. Haha!   Cheesy   It was pretty sweet opening up the air-sealed package and hearing it go SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHWOP.

I just opened one of the boxes/packages to see what the fuss is all about.  Needless to say it is pretty f'in awesome.  I will probably sell of a few trays/boxes.

Ok guys, got a quick question... I have here a v3 3000 AGP that is different from the rest I have.  This one does not have a 3dfx logo on the back side, and seems to have a very odd PCB date [ see below ]

Can any of you confirm what this date is supposed to be?  Or if it is a manufacturing typo?  I can get more pictures if any of you need them.  Thanks for the help guys Smiley

My guess is that it's a "typo", it should be 9939. Why don't you put full pictures with the back and front of the card, maybe we cand see something.

I'm not really sure what to look for, but here are the pics Smiley  The pcb date is even in a different location than my other 3000 agp's..and it doesnt have the locking agp thingy... oh well, its probably nothing special, just a typo Smiley  I think its kinda neat though Smiley  Does anyone else have one like this?

its one of the first V3 3000 AGP (0999 PCB date is really really early!) ... early V3 2000 AGP also had this locking AGP thingy...

yours seems to be a production one (CE sticker) but that white stamp on the back... hmmm, other production V3 3000 AGP cards doesnt have it...

take off the cooler and you will see that it has the old 3dfx logo with the "tripple 3"....

Thanks for the information guys! ( When/if I sell the card, I will let you know first exxe )

So is the pcb date on the back a typo?  It clearly says 0939.  Or was that a different "dating convention" compared to other cards?

...

**Update** I have updated my website (mostly) to everything I have to date.  There are still a few additions to be made, but overall I would say 95% of the things I have are up. (click my sig or pcb date above to visit my site )

Oh yeah, heres the link to the auction from where the card came - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250237635407

The CWYY infrequently changed and the numbers got swapped indeed.

Before 2001, that's wasn't a big problem though, but seeing something like 0102 makes it kinda difficult to identify the exact date.
