Disregard my last post on this topic... I was just pullin chains  Cheesy

My question now is how much memory does the MSI MS6168 version 2 motherboard support?  I want to max that thing out.  I read somewhere that it is 256... (didn't say if that was total or per slot)

So with that being said would my best option be two sticks of 128MB PC100?   Also, I was wondering what the fastest CPU support is... Any help would be appreciated Smiley

/EDIT - a little more reading and another source says that it supports a max of 512MB.. can someone please confirm,  I need to order some ram for this bad boy Smiley

confirming 512MB,but make sure to use two 256MB 16-chip modules.as for the CPU,p3 800 100FSB is the fastest thing officially supported.you can get 133FSB support by flashing a special BIOS,but I wouldnt recommend it,too many boards have died after some time when operating in the 133FSB mode..

Thanks RazrX!  Wink

Now I have another question regarding my ms6168.

If I have an 800mhz P3 CPU with a 133fsb will I be able to go into the 1.3 bios (latest) and switch the fsb to 100?  Or should I try and find a CPU that has a 100fsb... thanks in advance for any help with this one...

(and we are SURE that the max supported cpu is 800mhz?) please confirm

Hello Everyone,

Right now I am asking for pure opinions, please give me you answer and back it up with reasons.

I have recently purchased a Thermaltake Golden Orb HSF for slot1 processors. - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=380045516449

Now my question is what processor should I use in my 3dfx gaming rig - http://rottens3dfxasylum.tripod.com/rig.html

I have two choices in hand. the 866/133, or 1000/133.  I know a lot of people like speed, but I was also told that the 866 was a great "vintage gaming" proc, and it would give it more of a vintage feel.  (ie: load times)

So please let me know which you think would be better in this application. (please also review the specs of my system and look at possible bottlenecks)

I could obviously do some benchmarking (which I probably will) but I would just like to hear some opinions. Thanks people Smiley

Not to brag or anything like that, but I thought I would just list a few auctions/BIN's I won lately Smiley

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140249890321

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120285612810

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280235654446

And then my girlfriend said she would buy me one... and boy oh boy did she get a pretty good deal Smiley

Ok, I have heard a few things but I just want to confirm.

These two cards would not have a problem working together in SLI correct?

Card 1 -
...
...

Card 2 -
...
...

And I have always heard people say that if the card has memory on the rear it is 12mb, if it doesn't then it is 8mb.  I am pretty sure I know all these answers I just want clairification Smiley
