Can you help identify this Voodoo 2 ?
27.07.09 at 10:21:14

Hi,

I recently purchased a Voodoo 2 card from a private website, the owner said it was from a Gateway 2000 PC.

I have had a look at it and it appears to be 12MB, this is unusual for me as I haven't seen cards like this with no memory on the back.

Anyway I did a little poking around and it appears the passthrough cable appears to be original, also the main identifying number I can see is: 600-0027-02B which the only thing that comes close to it is a Hercules Stingray Voodoo2, but after looking at that card it is significantly different.

Do you know what this is ?

Thanks for your time.

600-0027-02B is a generic number which, if I'm not mistaking, identifies the PCB layout, not the brand or model. I have several V2's with this number but all from different brands.

In other words, we can't say anything untill we've got pictures.

Ive put up a couple of pictures, the back of the card is a bit dark but there is nothing really interesting on there anyway >.>

It's a Powercolor, there were a lot of those boards made, especially in 1999 and 2000 and I'm guessing that system manufacturers choose them, because they were quite cheap.

Hi RaverX,

Thank you for letting me know, I should have looked a bit harder before I asked but if you look at:

http://www.tdfx.de/eng/evilking.shtml

You can see it's simarlily like it, except this card is a 2.0 and that one is a 2.1, same sticker on the back etc.
