I have a SLI configuration of 2x Creative Blasters 3D 8MB and in Windows 98SE everything works flawlessly.

But I just cannot make the SLI in windows XP work. Fastvoodoo GOLD 4.0 driver works and activates Glide but utilizes only one of the cards as SLI is not detected. Is there any way to fix this? Some other driver maybe?

Thanx...

I used fastvoodoo 3.5 and even different v2s worked in SLI. Even from other points of view i liked 3.5 better. Give it a try!

Finally I got to my voodoo-mean machine. I tried the Fastvoodoo 3.5 driver and it really DETECTS SLI. But when I start something (UT 1999 for example) it crashes with an error: "Mapmem returned an error trying to map memory".

As I said, I used FastVoodoo 4.0 GE. I uninstalled it first and removed every single trace of "3dfx" and "voodoo" from the registry before I installed FastVoodoo 3.5. When I returned the FastVoodoo 4.0 - everything except SLI worked flawlessly again.

I also tried Whitetiger driver and an reference V2 Win2000 driver and it's the same error all the time. I figure it's something to do with the older driver overwriting the newer. So the bonus question is: How can I destroy the new driver without reinstalling windows?

1. Download 'Driver Cleaner' (NOTE, the ORIGINAL version - NOT the PRO or V3 versions!)
[I don't think it's available anymore! PM me your email addy. and I'll email it in a ZIP to you]

2. Download 'Reg Cleaner'
http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/archives/reg-cleaner4.3.htm

UNINSTALLATION
============

1. Uninstall drivers as usual.
2. Reboot PC when prompted.
3. Go to SAFE MODE
4. Run Driver Cleaner on the '3dfx' profile and click 'clean'...wait till it's finished.
5. Run CAB Cleaner (part of driver cleaner) and wait till it is finished [may take a while!]
6. Run Reg cleaner and click the 'Author' column to sort registry entries by alphabetical order.
7. Look for any entries by '3Dfx' and select them.
8. Click 'Remove Selected' and wait till it's finished.

Your system is clean of the old drivers, now reboot and install the new ones!

Thanks, I actually did something of my own:
I installed version 4.0, then copied the  glide2x and glide3x.dll in a backup dir - then destroyed the drivers, reinstaled with 3.5 - returned the glide2x and 3x from 4.0 driver pack and woala! Everything works perfectly!

It costed me some time to play with the drivers and settings, but it pays off to see the UT '99 fly like an eagle!  Wink
