Personally, I like many of the games out there. [old and new] At the age of 23, I got my first computer when I was 16. Needless to say, I have been playing a lot of games I missed out on over the years. (now with my V6k.. *drools*)
Some lack certain quality, but sometimes they make up for it in another areas. (gameplay/storyline vs. graphics) Sad but true, we won't be able to re-live those first expereinces of playing games like Half-Life or Unreal... you know, the games with Epic storylines and graphics. (for their time) I have had much fun with the following games in the past/currently, regardless of the lacking quality. (some more enjoyable than others)
Red Faction 3 (really f'ing good actually)
Batman - Arkham Asylum (not out yet, but looking forward to it)
Bioshock
Crysis/Crysis - Warhead
F.E.A.R.2
FarCry 2
Left 4 Dead
Mirror's Edge
The Chronicles Of Riddick - Assault On Dark Athena
Tom Clancy's Hawx
Race Driver: GRID
Some games that are a bit older are still amazing too:
UT3
Doom 3
Qauke 4
Prey
HL2/CSS/DODS
COD4
Postal 2
Vivisector Beast Within
Condemned Criminal Origins
Pain Killer
Devastation: Resistance Breeds Revolution
Vampire - The Masquerade:Bloodlines
Tribes Vengeance
The Chronicles of Riddick - Escape from Butcher Bay
Flatout/Flatout2
Just keep your eyes open people, the games are there.
As far as even older games I enjoy, there is always:
Quakes/Unreals
Half-Life [and all expansions]
1nsane
CS 1.6
Starsiege
Recoil
Dirt Track Racing
Serious Sam(s)
Clive.Barker's.Undying
RTCW
American McGee's Alice
AVP
Hitman
Soldier of Fortune
As a gamer, I play what is available and try to enjoy it. No better feeling than completing a game that is sub-par.
Game on people, game on.
Update:// I was just playing Devastation: Resistance Breeds Revolution, and wow... a great game. A few bugs, but an amazing game based on the Unreal engine.
