norries AMD will keep thier minds on CPU's and Chipsets ATi will keep thier minds on VPU's and Chipsets as well, this way the chipsets for both CPU and VPU's will become a more structual design which is the base of any PC.
If you hjave a good base design then you are sure that the other parts will work very good as well, Ati needs AMD for better South Bridge chipset design and AMD needs ATi for the Best VPU sollutiions this is, I have a an AMD /ATi set as well and really it's very stable and vet solid, the RD580 needs no driver to opperate, only it's 2 Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet controlers, onboard AC97 8.1 channel soundcard and it's SATA 150 & SATAII 300 controllers, but the main chipset relies on no driver what so ever, and with AMD's support they can only design better things togeather mix ideas and creat a super structure.
Ati also used ULi for thier South Bridge chips but still the there were leaks with stabillity problems the ULi M1575 is a far better design than the ATi SB450 true there but I think that the ULi design still has some flaws, that way but gett'n AMD in the field those flaws will be cleared in future designs.
Ati is still king of the world with Single VPU based boards, nVidia needs a Dual GPU setup just to catch up with a Single ATi X1900 XT/XTX or the later X1950 XTX setup! So AMD did a very smart move and they can only take advantage with ATi by tak'n on Intel's so called Conroe.
