3dx Voodoo5 6000 Second Aircooler Edition

Hello everybody,

Here is the new Aircooler project for a Voodoo5 6000 Rev3700A.

About the frontcooler,

I can use thermal grease on RAM and GPU frontside.
Thickness: 12mm Aluminium.
Material: eloxieren (anodize).
nb. it will be cheaper and the quality is better. heat transfer does not influenced because the layer is very fine. A paintlayer is thicker.

About the backcooler,

I can use thermalpad on RAM and GPU Backside. Its the same heightflush.
The mini heatsinks placed on rear of VSA100 don't touch smd parts (1mm distance). Just help to dissipate heat from back.

nb. I must find a company to create gold color for the complete cooler.

About the fans,

8 NB-BlackSilentFan 40mm

If I had a V5 6000, I would leave it as is, the 4 fans setup it originally has cools just fine and looks nice too. with all those new heatsinks you add, you just make it look like a newer card, not my cup of tea.

to be honest...no.

there is nothing special about the cooler, it won't cool that much better then the default heatsinks if you ask me.

don't go thinking I don't like anything you do, but this is screwing up a card with an option that doesn't make it better in any way, visual or mechanical.

If the visible side would've looked like the underside, that dark greyish, then I would've liked it a lot more, but that plain silvery look doesn't do the card justice.

but ofcourse that is just my 0.02$

With originals 3dfx heatsinks in my room (@25°) I have a low max frequency passed with 3dmark2001se. After, the benchmark freeze.
We will see what is the new max frequency with these news coolers on the same card.

If you o/c one 3dfx card you don't risk to damage it because there is a freeze and after you restart your pc and no problem (frequency by default @166MHz for the V5k6)
It's very rare to damage a card with an o/c.

o/c them sometimes to make some benchmarks. It's a pleasure.
Remember my world record @200 MHz in 3dmark2001se (GoldSE).
And my second max frequency @206 MHz (watercooled)
nb. new coolers increase the price of the card.

If you'd use 2 cards for overclocking purposes, that would seem logical, even different revs, but more then 2 is not needed if you ask me.

I know overclocking is fun, I do it as well, altho more with old cpu's like the K6-2 / K6-2, Athlon(XP), XP-M etc etc.

I don't know how other people feel about it, but if I were to buy a 6000 from you, I would pay more for one that is in it's original state then one that has one of those coolers on it.

I will sell it with originals 3dfx coolers next to the card. You can change the cooler like you want If you have thermal grease.
In year 2000 a V5 6000 3700 had a value of 600 dollars.
I have baught my first 6k 3700 with compatible motherboard a long time ago for a price of 1000 euros.
In 2013 you can buy one for 3500 euros and more...
